Hi, I think, for taking notes, etc. It would still be good to go for a netbook as iPad is expensive and does not have all functionalities. Time will take to charge full battery: 2 hrs. USB: 3 ports WLAN: yes LAN: yes Speaker: yes Possibility to attach earphones: yes Recording ability: yes (voice quality is not so great) Windows installed: Windows XP As per my knowledge, you can install any operating system on any machine without any hitch if that machine is capable to satisfy all system requirements. I had a bad experience with my HP Compaq pressario V 3000. The motherboard would crash just a bit too often. Although the service engineers were kind enough to replace it thrice for free even though my product of out of warranty, I was simply not given a satisfactory answer why the motherboard has to crash. I got very illusive answer for that. Even one of my friend / brother had the same issue.
