Petr,
It looks like with you last test the card was configured, and interrupt was
assigned (IRQ 7), but no interrupts were generated. Did you try polling again
with 2.6.21?

Is any more information needed from card users?
Thanks.

Re: [Bug 43961] Re: Power down after shutdown does not work...

2007-06-25 Thread WillyWongi
System: PackardBell V7908, Centrino Duo, Feisty Fawn;
symptom: never powered off.

Some time ago I went through a buggy installation of FUSE, that messed
up with my sudoers file, preventing many modules to load at startup:
Alsa Audio (hda-intel), Intel Wifi (ipw3945) and so. I noticed that my
laptop actually shut down properly more often (2 out of 3). When I
fixed my files, everything went back to the way it always been: never
powered off.

ps.: never means Drake, Eft and Fawn.

Me, I have the exact problem on my machine too. I have Feisty Fawn
 installed as well.

I found some additional errors in the kernel log:

[1.519139] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed
[\_SB_.PCI0.LPC_.EC__.BAT0._STA] (Node c18ebf40), AE_NOT_EXIST
[1.519660] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed

Are these messages helpful?

I've been seeing this for quite a while on my Vaio SR17 (since Ubuntu Dapper,
which I think was 2.6.15 -- see https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/75174), but it
seemed to get a lot worse in 2.6.20 because it's apparently no longer possible
to kill kacpid or prevent it from running. Once kacpid gets going, the only
solution is to pull the power plug: the machine won't shut down normally.

I also see the problem with accessing the temperature file once the problem
starts. I tried this: in one window, run a big compile (gimp, kernel). In
another window, run top. In a third, run a loop that cats the thermal_zone file
every 5 seconds. If I don't run the thermal zone loop, then top will show
kacpid as the runaway process; if I do, then cat will be the runaway process
(kill -9 won't kill the cat), but either way the system becomes unusable after
a few minutes of compiling. The last temperature shown is typically about
71/72C (fairly typical for this machine during a compile).
