--- Comment #16 from [EMAIL PROTECTED]  2008-02-21 01:12 ---
Will you please try the debug patch in comment #8 of bug 9448 and enable the
enable the debug function of cpufreq amd acpi in kernel configuration ? After
the system is booted with the option of acpi.debug_layer=0x0100
acpi.debug_level=0x1f cpufreq.debug=7, please do the following test.
a. cd /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq  echo userspace
scaling_governor
b. cat scaling_max_freq  scaling_setspeed
c. echo performance  scaling_governor
d. Wait for some time and get the dmesg output.

It will be great if you can do the above test with the additional boot
option of acpi_osi=!Window2006.

Yakui,
Debug patch commenting out burst functions which were inserted in 25-rc1, so
.24 is broken by some other means. Don't insist.

Black, could you please uncomment DEBUG at drivers/acpi/ec.c:30 and compile the
kernel with time in printk. Please provide a dmesg.

[Bug 9961] Oops with docking and undocking, device after docking not connected

2008-02-21 Thread bugme-daemon
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9961

--- Comment #9 from [EMAIL PROTECTED]  2008-02-21 05:14 ---
It's not there that it crashes. Because the bits below don't get executed, it
crashes elsewhere due to something not being initialised.

Also, if you boot up with the dock connected, DMA (and possibly IRQs) from the
PCI card in the dock doesn't seem to work properly. This is a regression from
2.6.23. I'll try to work out roughly where things start to go wrong, but it'll
take a while.

P.S. It looks like bug 9167 No TZ.temp update, no fan control (64-bit only) -
Acer Aspire 5720, 7720Z - Santa Rosa, T7300 is somehow related to the issue.

Maybe something like:

if (!bus || !bus-self || bus-self-transparent)
  break;

or

if (bus  bus-self  bus-self-transparent)
  break;

would at least help a little bit with the NULL oops ?
Thought there will be a bigger problem I guess...

well I don't even see any entry in the directory /sys/class/backlight - it's
got lost somewhere during 2.6.24-rc1 rc2 in the current git tree.

However there is other way how can I get backlight control working again.
when I use this modprobe parameter:

options thinkpad_acpi brightness_enable=1

I get backlight working - but not via standard backlight control
(but it's usable as a temporal fix)

[Bug 10053] System dead after resuming from S3, but not when docked

--- Comment #6 from [EMAIL PROTECTED]  2008-02-21 06:44 ---
OK, I did the testing today. acpi_sleep=s3_bios causes immediate reboot here
after pressing the power button to resume the system. It always used to be like
that AFIR (did some testing some time ago). So I tried without this option and
got some results. However dmesg output lacks initcall messages that I saw on
the screen while booting, I am not sure if that's the way it's supposed to be.

Interrupt storm it is :)
It might help if you attach dmesg from 2.6.23.
It might also help if you try different acpi_sci= kernel options e.g. level or
edge.

I added '#define DEBUG' to ec.c of 2.6.23.16 (don't know if this has any
effect) and compiled it with CONFIG_PRINTK_TIME=y. I'll attach the resulting
output of dmesg.
Next I booted 2.6.24.2 with acpi_sci=level. The result didn't seem much
different from what I posted earlier, so I won't attach it.
But when I tried acpi_sci=edge. I have no idea what it does, but it seems to
work. I didn't notice any lost keystrokes. I'll attach dmesg and
/proc/interrupts.
