I don't do any work on the linux kernel myself, i'm merely a humble user like
yourself :)

But, it's probably due to bigger priorities i guess.

So i get 100% killer.
It is xorg dependet. i can't reproduce it without X

Steps to reproduce:
1. boot
2. suspend S3 resume
3. run in gnome-terminal
for i in $( seq 10 ); do
   echo
jj;
done
sleep 5s
cd tmp/kernel/linux-2.6.20/
make -j2 all

4. compilation will segfault.

There is still 9 revisions to bisect but i get kernel oops at

latest BAD commit d2bcbad5f3ad38a1c09861bca7e252dde7bb8259
x86: do not zap_low_mappings in __smp_prepare_cpus

It was okay when cpus were cold booted before this point.
But with the new state machine, they will not have arrived to

of breaking it completely after paging enablement

I tried it with the new DSDT but it still locks up the machine.

I'll attach the dmesg output. As far as I could see netconsole captured
everything that was written on the screen.

Let me know if I can test anything else.

2.6.24.

Can someone try the patch from comment #43, pls.
If this one works, it's the way to go.

While Yakui's patch is nice from a generic point of view, it violates the spec
and has the potential to break other machines.
Yakui, if the patch from comment #43 should not work, it would be great if you
can push a force_rsdt variable or similar inside ACPICA, so that machines can
be dmi blacklisted.
Hmm, I am still anxious that we ignore the real bug then. IMO it looks like a
bug slipped in between 2.6.19.7 and 2.6.20 and I expect XSDT already was used
(according to the specs) in 2.6.19 and before already?

[Bug 10300] volume wheel does not work in 2.6.25-rc6

--- Comment #26 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2008-05-01 16:52 ---
Same problem here on a Toshiba Satellite U300-13H laptop. Tested on several
2.6.24 versions and 2.6.25 currently. On console I get almost the same output
that Romano (with different scan codes). On X I have the same problem and is
that when I stop rolling the wheel, last event received is a key down. Some
times the first event when I start rolling is key down.

Also mind that rolling very little translates to a certain amount of key
up/down events, where I would expect just one. This means that I am unable to
get just a single key down/up sequence.

I'm attaching the evtest output for the situation.

Regards,

In the first 3 logs it looks like the PCI core isn't assigning the PCIe links
any address space (ICH6 device 1c is the PCIe root complex).

Halgeir, your config seems different. Can you add the output of lspci -vvv?
Do you see any problems with your setup aside from the error messages (like the
slow X problem or hang described in the other reports)?

Thanks,
Jesse
