[Bug 1752] no ACPI GPE events unless irqpoll - Dell Inspiron 5150
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1752 a...@deds.nl changed: What|Removed |Added Attachment #17485|0 |1 is obsolete|| Attachment #17487|0 |1 is obsolete|| --- Comment #134 from a...@deds.nl 2009-03-14 07:48 --- Created an attachment (id=20520) -- (http://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=20520action=view) metalog after comment #130 and comment #131 Back again, and I did the following after comment #130 and #131 01. Compiled a new kernel (vanilla-sources-2.6.29_rc8 *WITHOUT* patch), and rebooted 02. Followed http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/power-management-guide.xml#doc_chap7 to quickly setup Sleep (S3) and Hibernate (S4) swsusp 03. Did lspci -vxxx (attachment lspci.out snip1) 04. Tried Fn-Suspend, button on/off, lid close/open: no events are reported/working 05. Typed setpci -s 00:1f.0 bb.b=0a and nothing more. Now, the three delayed events from step 04 are executed immediately, and reported in the logs. Because I didn't hooked up a script on the Fn-Suspend key press (button/sleep SBTN 0080 0001), it does nothing usefull at the moment, it shows up in the logs only. Lid switch activates the laptop-mode script that turns the display off and back on. The button-on/off key press activates a script executing /sbin/init 0, so the laptop shuts down. 06. Booting the laptop again 07. Typed setpci -s 00:1f.0 bb.b=0a so events are working again 08. Did lspci -vxxx (attachment lspci.out snip2) 09. Typed echo disk /sys/power/state, the laptop enters the hibernate state correctly 10. I press the on/off button, bootloader grub kicks off the system, the S4 system image is restored instead of a normal boot. 11. Did lspci -vxxx (attachment lspci.out snip3) 12. The laptop seems to work fine, but events from Fn-Suspend, button on/off, lid close/open don't work anymore, like before hibernation 13. The logs however show a received event ac_adapter AC 0080 0001_, that's got something to do with leaving the S4 hibernate state. -- Attachment metalog snip1 === Doing the same with the pached kernel === 15. Recompiled the kernel (vanilla-sources-2.6.29_rc8 *WITH* the patch from comment #131 ), and rebooted 16. Did lspci -vxxx (attachment lspci.out snip4) 17. Tried Fn-Suspend, lid close/open: no events are reported/working 18. Typed setpci -s 00:1f.0 bb.b=0a and nothing more. Now, the two delayed events from step 17 are executed immediately and reported in the logs. Because i didn't hooked up a script on the Fn-Suspend key press (button/sleep SBTN 0080 0001), it does nothing usefull at the moment, it shows up in the logs only. Lid switch activates the laptop-mode script that turns the display off and back on. 19. Did lspci -vxxx (attachment lspci.out snip5) 20. Typed echo disk /sys/power/state, the laptop enters the hibernate state correctly 21. I press the on/off button, bootloader grub kicks off the system, the S4 system image is restored instead of a normal boot. 22. Did lspci -vxxx (attachment lspci.out snip6) 23. The laptop seems to work fine, but events from Fn-Suspend, button on/off, lid close/open don't work anymore, like before last hibernation 24. The logs however show a received event ac_adapter AC 0080 0001_, that's got something to do with leaving the S4 hibernate state. -- Attachment metalog snip2 After using the debug patch, events are still not reported unless setpci -s 00:1f.0 bb.b=0a is entered before and after the hibernate state. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. -- Apps built with the Adobe(R) Flex(R) framework and Flex Builder(TM) are powering Web 2.0 with engaging, cross-platform capabilities. [Bug 12873] New: ACPI_IRQ not set
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12873 Summary: ACPI_IRQ not set Product: ACPI Version: 2.5 KernelVersion: 2.6.29rc7 Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Tree: Mainline Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P1 Component: Config-Interrupts AssignedTo: acpi_config-interru...@kernel-bugs.osdl.org ReportedBy: kphilli...@gmail.com Latest working kernel version: 2.6.25 Earliest failing kernel version: 2.6.26 Distribution: Ubuntu 8.04 Hardware Environment:Toshiba Satellite P305D-S8828 Software Environment: Base install with exception of a few other details Problem Description: During Boot the ACPI_IRQ is not configured properly, and it is linked to irq 9. I have managed to fix it with changing a few boot options, but the issue falls in the secondary_start function. Steps to reproduce: I used default configuration, with no customizations on drivers, so the reproduction method is to just simply install 2.6.26 to 2.6.29rc7 Error Messages: I have a few revisions of the kernel bugs reported over at a similar bug report over at launchpad. https://launchpad.net/bugs/338701 -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. -- Apps built with the Adobe(R) Flex(R) framework and Flex Builder(TM) are powering Web 2.0 with engaging, cross-platform capabilities. [Bug 12700] poweroff hangs until key-press, then boot fails - Acer 4520 laptop, Turion X2 processor
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12700 irc...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|ASSIGNED|RESOLVED Resolution||CODE_FIX --- Comment #23 from irc...@gmail.com 2009-03-14 15:12 --- Sorry for the delay, I've been a little busy lately I just applied your patch to vanilla sources 2.6.29-r8 and it FIXES the bug. Due to some reason it didn't in 2.6.29-r6, probably because your patch was written over a later version of the file in question. Anyway, the bug seems to be solved, I tested it four times and they all worked flawlessly. Thank you, Yakui.
