From our testing, Windows indeed is only allowing the single-byte write to the (legal) port 0x80. The rest of the request is simply ignored. In general, any part of an I/O request that overlaps the protected ports is ignored. No error is returned. We are updating ACPICA to match this behavior. http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13053 --- Comment #3 from William Cattey w...@mit.edu 2009-04-10 18:01:07 --- I'll run those tests. I predict processor.max_cstate=1 will result in a working system, because this is all about failure to receive interrupts when we're in C3 state. Is there any particular config that is or is not appropriate for the acpidump? IE will it be a valid dump if I take it on the system that has been booted with acpi_skip_timer_override set? (I'm unfamiliar with acpidump, so I'm going to guess that it's the table the BIOS sets with what should work in ACPI, and that the output will be useful no matter what interrupt structure I've set.) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are watching the assignee of the bug. -- This SF.net email is sponsored by: High Quality Requirements in a Collaborative Environment.
