ANR9999D TSM Server 4.2.2.2 and Client 5.1.5.15

2003-11-28 Thread Sascha Braeuning
Hello TSMers,

I've got a problem with an updated client. We updated the Windows NT client
from version 3.1 to version 5.1.5.15. Our TSM server is running under Z/OS
and TSM Version 4.2.2.2. I tested backup and restore behavior and
everything looks fine. The services started without a problem and the
client got his backuptime from the server (we use prompted mode).

Now I am getting this terrible error message on the TSM server:

28.11.2003 13:46:00 ANRD SMEXEC(1627): ThreadId139004 Session 78272
with
client C010191B (WinNT) rejected - server does not
support the UNICODE mode that the client was
requesting.

When I check the clienterrorlogs, there seems to be everything alright. No
errors! Can anybody help?

Mit freundlichen Grüßen

2003-11-28 Thread Bill Boyer
After looking at your logs, I think the first thing I would do would be to
check to compatibility of your TDP version with your Domino version. You
seem to be running an old TDP agent (1.1.0?).

TDP Domino uses the Domino API only to talk to Domino. Could be your
version of Domino is to new for the TDP agent.

Re: ANR9999D TSM Server 4.2.2.2 and Client 5.1.5.15

2003-11-28 Thread Richard Sims
I've got a problem with an updated client. We updated the Windows NT client
from version 3.1 to version 5.1.5.15. Our TSM server is running under Z/OS
and TSM Version 4.2.2.2. ...

Your levels should mean you are generally okay in terms of Unicode. I don't
see an inherent reason for the ANRD.

How the upgrade was performed might be inciting the problem. A gotcha in
the transition from ADSM to TSM was in directory name changes:

Install directory, Windows ADSM: \program files\ibm\adsm
TSM: \program files\tivoli\tsm

My principal experience is in AIX, and there, if you installed a TSM client
where there was an ADSM client, the install would plant the TSM client
without touching the ADSM client, resulting in co-resident clients and a
lot of confusion with paths and options files, with manually invoked
operations using one and automatically invoked operations possibly using the
other. I don't know if your 5.1 install may have done something similar,
but if it did, Registry settings could make such a situation a lot worse with
Windows than with AIX. A more Windows person may have fuller advice; but I
would preserve the client options files, uninstall the 5.1 then the 3.1
clients, and reinstall the 5.1 client, if you find both present.

I don't think TSM has any limits on the number of clients you can
register, so technically, the answer is unlimitted.
Practically, you'll run into performance limits of your server at some
point, depending on the type and number of cpu's, the disks, the
network connections, the exact pci bus type, the tape-drives the kind
of data, the changerate of this data and a lot more factors

In Progress events?

2003-11-28 Thread Stanley, Jon
I have several events listed as being In Progress, with no associated
session. A restart of both the TSM application and the entire server
has been unsuccessful at resolving the issue, so I think that the issue
is database related, but can't be sure. Is there something that I can
do to fix this?
