But, it was a 6.2 problem. This Client is 5.5. It doesn't mean that it isn't still a problem though. ...so, nothing else is obviously wrong. I will kill and restart the scheduler. As long as they stay mounted the error should not appear. If I could I'd use the dsmcad. That would be a better fix. I'll revert to the old dsm.sys immediately. I have done the dsmc q inclexcl previously. I had not looked at q opt. Is there anything specific I should look for in options? I have included a snippet below. This is the result of the q inclexcl AFTER I reverted to the old dsm.sys. Re: restore of 2008 r2 server wih web iis role
Hi Tim, No special steps should be necessary. You should observe the following: 1. The restore method you mentioned works fairly well for Windows 2003, but is not best practice for Windows Vista and higher. Rather, you should use WinPE and ASR as outlined here: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/wikis/x/EwgFD Microsoft does not support BMR/DR scenarios involving dissimilar hardware. In practice, you can get away with some minor hardware differences, such as: * Restore to a system with different memory * Restore to a system with larger disks than original system The above wiki article includes some of the gotchas that will cause restore issues. 2. When backing up Windows, you should follow the advice given in this presentation: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27023299 It is a large presentation containing a lot of history and background, but the bottom line backup recommendations are on pages 27 - 33 of the PDF file. On that same web page, you can link to a recording of my presentation of the material. It is lengthy, but contains information you might find insightful. In particular, for proof of concept testing: * Exclude as little as possible, unless you KNOW that the files are not needed to restore a viable system. * In particular, do not exclude NTUSER.DAT* and USRCLASS*.DAT files. * Use OFS with VSS as the snapshot provider for backup of drives (dsm.opt file option SNAPSHOTPROVIDERFS VSS). * Check dsmsched.log and dsmerror.log for any anomalous messages found during the backup (you want NO anomalous messages) 3. Make sure you have remediated the issue described in this flash and APAR: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21462430 http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IC72446 If you have HP OpenView installed, you need to check for that issue. If you are affected, then at a minimum, apply the registry change described in the above flash to all Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2 systems. If you also provide system state backup support for Windows Vista and Windows 7 workstations, then this change should be applied on those as well. For longer term, install Microsoft hotfix 2647841 ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2647841) , which corrects this problem for any service that might use '/' instead of '\' in the registry. If you apply the hotfix, then the HP OpenView registry value change is not necessary. 4. Once you know you have a clean backup (do not accept anything less than return code 0, no warning messages or anything else), then try the restore. See if that changes anything. Error when installing TSM client on RHES 5.7
Hi all, I am trying to install the TSM client on Red Hat linux version ES 5.7. TIVsm-API-5.2.0-0 has installed OK via the rpm command however I have run into the problem below: rpm -i TIVsm-BA.i386.rpm error: Failed dependencies: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 is needed by TIVsm-BA-5.2.0-0.i386 libXp.so.6 is needed by TIVsm-BA-5.2.0-0.i386 Any suggestions? I assume there are some other linux packages I have to install? Thanks Grant - I will keep that info for future reference however I got around it by installing a later version of the client (5.5.4).
