Export tape list
I have a customer that was given a stack of tapes that are apparently EXPORT volumes and that's as much as they know. I ran an IMPORT on one of the tapes and got all the information and then failed on an incomplete volume list since I only gave it 1 tape on the IMPORT command. How can I determine the order of the tapes for the import? Or doesn't it matter as long as I specify all of them on the IMPORT command? Or am I just plain SOL? Re: Export tape list
Not knowing how many tapes are in the stack, I usually run the import command on all volumes using the preview=yes option. It will dump the info to the console of what's on the tapes without actually executing the import. -Rick Adamson 904.783.5264 -Original Message- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU] On Behalf Of Bill Boyer Sent: Friday, February 21, 2014 9:30 AM To: ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU Subject: [ADSM-L] Export tape list I have a customer that was given a stack of tapes that are apparently EXPORT volumes and that's as much as they know. Re: Daily surge in use of LGTMPTSP table space
About a month ago I reported a rapid rise in the use of the LGTMPTSP table space on one of our Version 6 TSM servers. We have since discovered a connection with client behavior. The surge in table space usage starts when one of the Windows clients starts backing up its E drive, which contains about 20 million files. About 15 minutes into the surge another Windows client starts backing up a drive with about 5 million files. We ended up adding about 16 GB of space to the file system used for the LGTMPTSP table space. This has so far been sufficient to prevent any more server crashes. The amount of additional space was chosen because we have historically added database space in 16 GB increments; IBM declined to offer any advice on estimating the amount of space we needed to add.
