Re: TSM For ERP with DB2 config
Hello Sachin, before you continue on this path: You are using infinite logging, which is not recommended for an SAP environment. Unless you definitely need it, I'd suggest to switch to Archive Logging db2 update db cfg for SID using LOGSECOND 40 and see if that works. Re: IBM FlashCopy with TSM queries in SAP environment
Sachin, if you put the DS4700 behind a SAN Volume Controller you can use TSM for ACS (module for SAP) to perform all process steps necessary to generate a complete and consistent FlashCopy under control of BR*Tools. TSM for ACS is built upon the CIM interface and an implicit background copy option which the DS 4700 does not provide. To use the DS4700 for FlashCopy natively you have to write your own scripts for all the necessary process steps according to the splitint interface (SAP BC-BRS). Backup is initiated from an auxiliary server using BRBackup which will first determine all files to be backed up and then request a copy via the splitint interface. Splitint finishes when the files are mounted on the auxiliary server, and BRBackup then calls TSM for ERP via the backint interface to copy the backed up files to TSM. As mentioned in an earlier reply, no SAP software needs to be installed on the auxiliary server. Executables are accessed through NFS mounts as described in this Redbook: SG24-7474-00 IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Advanced Copy Services http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/pdfs/sg247474.pdf.
