TDP for R3 uses two tapes in each session.
Hi All... I4m using TSM 4.2, TDP for R3 3.2.0.6 in a SAN environment. When the backup with TDP begins, TSM mounts a tape and all the database data is backed up, after the DB backup TSM dismounts the tape and mounts another one to backup control data (logs, aff). The second 100 GB LTO tape just have 500 KB of occupancy. It occurrs in the same backup session. The backup is using two tapes in the same session. Thanks for the help... It4s possible that the storage pool reached its maximun capacity while the backup was running and failed, and after this the expiration process began. My first thought is that the switch setting has changed because the NIC is still set to 100/Full. I need to have someone check that, but I also found this. A messag in the client log as follows: 10/03/2001 00:34:27 ANS1311E Server out of data storage space. The log on the server has this message: 10/03/01 00:28:06 ANR0534W Transaction failed for session 352 for node CP-ITS-DOMAPP01 (WinNT) - size estimate exceeded and server is unable to obtain additional space in storage pool NOTES_DPOOL. The disk pool is not full, not even close. And let's make things clear up front, NOTHING has changed on the client or server. I do see the client is still at a lower level version of 3.1.0.7. I know this is not a supported client, and I have told them to upgrade, obviously with no luck so far. The server by the way is AIX 4.3.3 TSM 4.1.2. Has anyone any experience with this. The disk pool is set to overflow to tape when files are larger than 4GB. No tape mounts were noted. This has worked fine since the server was brought online a few years ago. Re: Setup for R3 TDP Problem
There are two ways to manage the password in TDP for SAP. Manual and Automatic. For Manual Password Handling: DSM.SYS of the tdp_r3: passwordaccess prompt (Default Value). initSID.utl: passwordrequired yes. You need to define the node for tdp_r3 in TSM, and the node name is the same you use in the initSID.utl, and set the password for the node. After this run the following command: AIX: backint -p /oracle/SID/dbs/initSID.utl -f password NT: backint -p drive:\orant\database\initSID.utl -f password The machine ask for the password. Problem with nohup dsmc sched

The scheduler is type=command and the objects line has the following: 'su - root -c "/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/resp_brar_tsm", where resp_brar_tsm is the script with the commands of TDP for SAP to backup the Archive Redo Logs. When I run the script manually it works, or when I run from the command line dsmc sched -pass=password it works too. The problem is with the TSM scheduler daemon in background.
