Re: Non IBM Libarary for TSM
Hi I'm not sure about the pricing but HP have good small libraries. I use an old DLT7000 system that works great. Maybe look at some libraries and then check the TSM site for compatibility. Re: Non IBM Libarary for TSM
Try comparing the IBM3583, with the same libraries from Dell (can't remember name) and Adic (Scalar100). I don't know, but there could be a few bucks to save. I believe that Adic have quit a few other libraries in their series. You also have Compaqs MSL5026 (very scalable - OEM'ed from Overland), StorageTek L20,L40,80,L180,L700(I have best experience with the larger ones - L180 and up). Back to what's good and not - check Tivolis site for Supported Devices http://www.tivoli.com/support/storage_mgr/requirements.html and check the libraries/drives mentioned there. Rgds. Re: Non IBM Libarary for TSM
This is one of the prides of TSM - support for many devices. Better approach (IMO) would be to find a reliable vendor in your area and check their appropriate and attractive products for (I)TSM support. Most of the time it will be supported and if is something brand new few months later it usually becomes also supported. IBM OEM's an HP library that IBM calls the 3600, that will use either DLT or LTO. They start at 2 drives/20 slots, and go up to 6 drives/60 slots. They are supported by TSM, but I have no personal experience with them. Regards, -Lloyd On Wed, 18 Dec 2002 17:14:47 +0530 Raghu S [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi I work on TSM soluion design. Re: Non IBM Libarary for TSM
This HP library sounds very similar to the SUN L20/40/60 Library (Re-badged HP KIT) We have one using DLT and it functions ok. It has also remote management card also so you can administer the library, for the most part, from a web type interface. ADIC Scalars are also supported I think. Re: Non IBM Libarary for TSM
Find a reseller who carries Overland Data libraries. The primary source of Overland libraries used to be Compaq, but since the HP/Compaq merger they are obviously going to only selling HP libraries. Overland's libraries scale very well in the midrange and are extremely cost competitive compared to HP, IBM, Adic, StorageTek, etc. They have been selling libraries for a long time and have a good track record and a lot of reference customers who use Tivoli. Dell also sells the smaller Adic libraries for a better price than IBM does, so you might consider them as an alternative to IBM.
