Re: Restoring RMAN data onto different server
There is a clone functionality in RMAN I think it would be quite easy to get RMAN to restore a database on a different system. the trivky bit is getting TDP to act like the other node I guess you would need to change the dsm.sys node name and rerun the password program. Then it's restore database. Failing that you can always restore the database to an alternate directory on the original system and then copy it over to the other system. Might be a bit hard if it's areally large database. -Original Message- From: Theresa Sarver [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday 20 February 2003 23:38 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Restoring RMAN data onto different server Hi All; Environment: SP Complex (7 nodes) AIX 433 ML10 TSM Server 5162 TSM Clients 415 TDP Oracle 110 Oracle Database (RMAN) 817 The DBA's asked me if they could possibly restore one of their test RMAN (817) databases onto a different node, as I do not know the answer to this question I am deferring to all your experts out there. NO , you can't . Also we can't restore ORAClE DB using TSM which are backedup by RMAN /TDP. RMAN restores it . RMAN on 9i - Guide from Oracle press for more details .. Re: Restoring RMAN data onto different server
I know the DBA's here are backing up restoring Oracle 8.1.6 databases between servers using RMAN/TDPO. We are running TDP 2.2.0.1. How they are doing it I have no idea It was setup/scripted by a consultant from IBM Global Services. -- Bruce Kamp Midrange Systems Analyst II Memorial Healthcare System E: [EMAIL PROTECTED] P: (954) 987-2020 x4597 F: (954) 985-1404 --- -Original Message- From: Theresa Sarver [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, February 21, 2003 9:23 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Restoring RMAN data onto different server Thanks for the response, though the DBA's aren't going to like to hear that too much.
