Re: LocationCriterionService returns incomplete data in ParentLocations

2012-06-27 Thread Anash P. Oommen
Hi Kevin,

Could you post the question on the Product forum in that case? Since the
frontend and API pull data from same source, the issue should get fixed if
it is addressed in the front end.

The product forum url is
https://www.en.adwords-community.com/t5/AdWords-Community/ct-p/AdWords

 Hi,

For country of Spain, a city can belong to province, and a province is
part of an autonomous community. For example: Barcelona is in Province of
Barcelona, Autonomous Community of Catalona, and Country of Spain.
But when I query LocationCriterionService to get hierarchy
(ParentLocations) for Barcelona, it returned Catalona and Spain, thus
skipping Province of Barcelona. Is this a bug?

AdWords API enforces that when we target geo locations for campaigns,
geo location targets must not overlapped. Without getting a complete
hierarchy, we cannot enforce this rule on our side.

 Please advice,
 Kevin

Re: What is DeduplicationMode meant for?

2012-06-27 Thread Zweitze
I only know of de-duplication mode in the context of view-through
conversions. But then the values are wrong - it should be either Enabled
or Disabled. At least, these are the values in the web interface.

To look up de-duplication mode for view-through conversions in the web
interface:
ToolsAnalysis, Conversions. Now click on a single conversion IN THE LEFT
PANE (below All conversion types). Then go to advanced. You see an item
View-through conversion search de-duplication

Hope this helps

Re: What is DeduplicationMode meant for?

2012-06-27 Thread Oliver
Many thanks Zweitze for your help. I can now see where this mode is set.

You're right, the current values of this field don't make sense. The
concept of one-per and many-per is different from what adwords
documentation say about the de-duplication mode.

I guess this is one field I'll exclude from my reports!

On Keywords Perfomance Report valid value for Device

2012-06-27 Thread Rodrigo Saling
Sorry if this has been already asked!

Downloading a *Keywords Performance Report*, with de column *Device*selected,
one of the Campaigns has the value
*Other*. The others values shown are *Computers* and *Tablets with full
browsers*. The campaign with Other value is set only with the Devices
options (on AdWords UI) on *Mobile devices with full browsers*.

On
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/reports#keywords,
for the Device column/attribute, there are three avaiable values, which
are:

TABLET / Tablets with full browsers
HIGH_END_MOBILE / Mobile devices with full browsers
DESKTOP / Computers

So my question is: what the value *Other* is supposed to mean? I add a
fourth option (like OTHER / Other) on the list above, or Other is synonym
of Mobile devices with full browsers?

Thanks for any tip!

Sporadic DUPLICATE_KEY errors when creating keywords using AdGroupCriterionService.mutate()

2012-06-27 Thread Jim McCabe
Starting on June 19, we started to see sporadic DUPLICATE_KEY errors from
v201109 AdGroupCriterionService.mutate(). This is surprising on several
levels:

   1. We didn't change our production code on June 19, and we are
definitely not sending duplicate keywords (our schema prevents it).
   2. If we repost the attempt later (10 or 20 minutes for example) they
usually post just fine, without the error.
   3. Even though the overall mutate() call fails, the keywords often still
show up in the AdWords UI but our system doesn't get a chance to see the ID.

According to the AdGroupCriterionService
documentationhttps://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201109/AdGroupCriterionService,

DUPLICATE_KEY is an error that the API experiences when inserting into the
database.

Does anyone have experience with this kind of error? (The API forum search
for DUPLICATE_KEY returns no results.)

Jim
