Re: decrease observed for adgroup impression stats (over 15 min. interval)

2016-12-29 Thread 'Sreelakshmi Sasidharan (AdWords API Team)' via AdWords API Forum
Hi Evan,

The performance data is not available instantly and there could be data
discrepancy if the data is pulled before stats are calculated. It is
recommended to rerun the reports later to pick up any adjustments if the
reports are being run for the current day or the previous day.

Please check our documentation on Data freshness
 for better
clarity.

Thanks,

CampaignCriterionService limit

2016-12-29 Thread Sylvain Beauregard
Hi!

I'm facing a though problem due to an apparent limitation of the
CampaignCriterionService.

I'm trying to download the criterions for all the campaigns in one of our
accounts... it's a BIG one... with 9000+ campaigns in it.

Of course I do the paging to recover page after page of results... but at
one point, I get an error saying:
An error has occurred: [SelectorError.START_INDEX_IS_TOO_HIGH @ ;
trigger:'100500']

So, apparently, we cannot download more than 100 500 criterions from an
account, and I'm not even downloading the keywords!, just the locations,
proximity and AdSchedules.

Of the 100 500 criterions I was able to download, the breakdown goes as
follows:

AdSchedule 90961

Location 8667
Proximity
872
Part of the problem is that it downloads a bunch of criterions that are
associated with removed campaigns.

I cannot find any way to filter them out using a predicate in my query.
Any idea?

I guess part of the solution will be to go through all these ghost
criterions and try to REMOVE them, right?

But even with the cleanup done, I'm pretty sure I'll be close to the 100
500 limit... and will hit soon (with all excess data cleaned).

decrease observed for adgroup impression stats (over 15 min. interval)

2016-12-29 Thread Evan
Our API integration involves displaying the change in impressions over
time. We pull an AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT for each active adgroup at 15 min.
intervals, calculate the difference over time (by simple subtraction), and
finally graph the results. We store the absolute counts at each time of
refresh (not the relative difference).

For multiple ad groups, there have been instances where the impressions
count will actually decrease compared to its previous values. This decrease
is observable in the stored Performance report (absolute) values and does
not appear related to our change over time calculations. While this is an
infrequent occurrence, it seems quite illogical, and I'm wondering a)
whether this is a noted behavior for the reporting API, b) whether our
stat-refresh interval must be extended to ensure accuracy. Indeed, the
minimum granularity for impressions over time using the Adwords GUI is
"daily"...

Thanks!

Re: AdWords Developer Tokens for Desktop Applications?

2016-12-29 Thread 'Anash P. Oommen (AdWords API Team)' via AdWords API Forum
Hi Drew,

Pretty much what Zweitze mentioned. Another thought that comes to mind is
to reset the developer token on a regular basis and then have your desktop
application download a binary module (e.g. dll) from a licensed server.
You'd probably want to shield against an HTTPs proxy like Fiddler too. Some
discussion on this topic is here

.

I would also recommend reaching out to the compliance team using this form:
https://services.google.com/fb/forms/apicontact/. In addition to checking
whether your technical approach is compliant with AdWords API T&Cs, you can
also flag users who might be misusing your application to capture the
devtokens.

Cheers,
Anash P. Oommen,
AdWords API Advisor.

Re: some questions regarding drafts and experiments

2016-12-29 Thread Rotherhithe_m
Hi Vishal,

thanks for your reply. I would like to query point 4.

If that is the case why do both the Keyword and Ad Performance Reports
contain both *BaseCampaignId* and *CampaignId?*

The documentation for both of the reports states:

BaseCampaignId

The ID of base campaign of trial campaigns. For regular campaigns, this is
equal to CampaignId.

Why is this included in these reports if it is always equal to CampaignId?

Thanks !

Re: AdWords Developer Tokens for Desktop Applications?

2016-12-29 Thread Zweitze
Hardcode your developertoken in your software, do not put it in any (human
readable) configuration file. Do not ship debugging files etc. with your
software.

Note that when someone does retrieve your developertoken, say by extensive
debugging or monitoring, you have to change your developertoken. That will
be a tough decision because doing so will invalidate the software of all
your users.
One way to get around that is to set up a service yourself that sends out
the developertoken, and have your software retrieve the developertoken
every 30 minutes or so.
