Get Placements Auto-Complete Data from Adwords API

2018-07-18 Thread christianbohorquez
We need the functionality to get from a term, given from an user, obtain
the results that match it from websites, youtube channels, youtube videos,
apps and app categories, (as in the image).

How to fix "RateExceededError rateName=RATE_LIMIT" with test API token?

2018-07-18 Thread tom . wagstaff
Hello everyone,

I am experimenting with the Adwords API with a test token, using the Python
googleads library v201806.

I want to test generating keyword ideas with the TargetingIdeaService and
I'm using the example code get_keyword_ideas.py from here:
https://github.com/googleads/googleads-python-lib/blob/master/examples/adwords/v201806/optimization/get_keyword_ideas.py
(Actually the Python 3 version from here
.)

I've adapted the code so it queries new keywords for a specific test client
account. But the script (usually, not always) fails with the error:

GoogleAdsServerFault: [RateExceededError ]

There doesn't seem to be any mention of the rateName "RATE_LIMIT" in the
API documentation. I see it has been raised before: here
, here
and here
 - and as
far as I can see no one has come up with an explanation of what it is.

Now I know that with a test token, the TargetingIdeaService just gives you
back garbage anyway. *Is there also some lower limit that applies to the
test token, that means this error will clear up by itself once I'm using a
proper developer token?*

If not, is there any specific advice of how to deal with it, other than the
rate-limiting strategies covered here
?

Cheers,
Tom

Any suggestions?

Re: Pausing an Adgroup using just the Adgroup ID

2018-07-18 Thread 'Teja Makani' via AdWords API and Google Ads API Forum
Hello Sean,

Yes, you could use only AdGroupID to change the status of your AdGroup
without getting the entire AdGroup. You could use the SET

 operator
and status

 field
of AdGroup and then perform mutate

 operation
to the AdGroupService

 to
change the status of an AdGroup. Please let me know if you have any further
questions.

Sai Teja, AdWords API Team.

Re: Video Targetting Keywords - availability in reports

2018-07-18 Thread 'Bharani Cherukuri (AdWords API Team)' via AdWords API and Google Ads API Forum
Hi Oksana,

Thank you for sharing the details. I edited your previous post to mask the
client customer ID. This said, the Display Keyword Performance report
includes all Display Network and YouTube Network statistics aggregated at
the keyword level, one row per keyword. If other segment fields are used,
you may get more than one row per keyword. In this case, the report query
involves multiple segment fields which explains the increase in the
impressions count. On the other hand, if you pull the data with the report
query given below this will return the impressions for this criteria as
13,335.

SELECT CampaignId, CampaignName, Clicks, Conversions, Impressions, Cost,
Criteria FROM DISPLAY_KEYWORD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT DURING LAST_MONTH

Hope this addressed your question. Let me know if you have any other
questions.

Re: demographics targeting in adgroup

2018-07-18 Thread 'Sreelakshmi Sasidharan (AdWords API Team)' via AdWords API and Google Ads API Forum
Hello,

I had replied to you on the private thread that I am following up with the
team for further updates and to check if the current behavior is the
expected behavior. Also, that the AdGroupBidModifierService

 can
only be used to set the bid adjustments for the supported criterion types.
To add the criterion, you will still need to use the AdGroupCriterionService

.

I do have some updates regarding the demographic criterion like Gender,
AgeRange, Parental status. These criteria types are special as they have
discrete set of possible values and all the possible values will be enabled
by default on each campaign and ad group. Which means, all the values are
targeted by default.

If you want to target only one of the values (such as AgeRange 35-44 for
example), the proper approach is to exclude all the other values for the
campaign or ad group based on your use case. That said, the API's behavior
is inline with what is shared above. Since all the values are enabled
anyway, setting one range explicitly is not making the difference. Hope
this clarifies your question. Please let me know if you have any further
questions.

Thanks,
Sreelakshmi, AdWords API team

Re: Video Targetting Keywords - availability in reports

2018-07-18 Thread Oksana

Sorry forgot to attach the report I get - here it is.

Thanks for looking at this Bharani!

Here is UI screenshot our client provided to us - see attach. The
client id = 9166488348 - Ski Barn, date range is June 2018.

Here is report that I get from Adwords API for the first keyword from
screenshot = 'outdoor adventure clothing'.

In report we see summary Impressions equal to 66,675, while on
client's screenshot we see Impressions = 13,335.

My request XML is:

We are interested exactly in explanation for this report with all the
fields mentioned as this is what works for our clients.

Could you please advice, don't know why Impressions in Report are
bigger then in UI.

Thank you,

Oksana

Hi Oksana,

I was able to pull the Display Keyword Performance Report for
LAST_MONTH and see that the Performance metrics are matching with the
web interface. Here is my report query:

SELECT CampaignId, CampaignName, Clicks, Conversions, Impressions,
Cost, Criteria FROM DISPLAY_KEYWORD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT DURING LAST_MONTH

The stats for the keyword (outdoor adventure clothing) is the same
both in the API and the UI. Could you share us the report query for
which you're experiencing the discrepancy so I can take a look?

Thanks,
Bharani, AdWords API Team

 Hi Danial,

 Thanks for your reply.

I've been told that yes we do use a transparent proxy. I'm not sure
what implication that has. Is there a way around it?

I should add that the guy who got your ruby sample working had no
problem. And I've checked that his config settings (e.g. Developer
Token/Customer Id) are identical to mine. I just find is strange that it
works fine in ruby but not .net.

Do you have any other ideas as to what I can do next / what could be
 causing the problem?

 Thanks
 Jeremy

 Hi,

Unfortunately I'm getting an error when I try to run GetCampaigns
in the c# .net sample that I downloaded from:

 https://github.com/googleads/googleads-adwords-dotnet-lib/releases/tag/v16.6.0

What's frustrating is that a colleague has managed to get this
working in ruby and I'm using the exact same parameters (e.g.
ClientCustomerId, UserAgent, DeveloperToken) as he is. The first
expectation that I get is : "Unable to connect to the remote server".
 Then
the inner exception is: "A connection attempt failed because the
 connected
party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established
connection failed because connected host has failed to respond".

I've tried this in both v201306 and v201309 but I get the same
 error.

Does anyone have any ideas please as to what's gone wrong?

 Thank you

PS Posted once and my post didn't appear so hoping it doesn't
 double post
