We have a wired Mikrotik back at the hub, and a single Unify
  saucer that provides WiFi to almost all of the home (~~ 2800 sq
  ft). It is "not quite" centrally located, and screwed to the wall
  above the doorway in a utility room.

I put Cambium E410's at my house and the Boss's house.  Don't have to 
field complaints from the Wife or Him anymore.

I always use MikroTik routers. I assume it is all noise etc but it seems
like I have an issue with getting throughput on my front porch etc. What is
everyone’s favorite router for home use? Using hap ac now.
