Yup, 2.5ghz would be licensed... I suspect you need better detective skills

Probably not something you want to do... as Jeff said, AF-11FX is limited to
56mhz channels, so you're only get ~600Mbps out of it, and you'd most likely
have to have adapters custom made to be able to use the existing antennas.

Does Airfiber 11FX do the full band in XPIC like the Ceragon?

Can it mate to my existing dual-pol antennas?

I can't find much info on that online.

Has anyone done a similar 'swap out' with Airfiber 11FX fully maxed

Which Ceragon? You might be going backwards.

500 - 600 megabits each direction.

Uses 56 MHz in V and H.

No SFP.

2017-09-12 Thread George Skorup
Yeah, I'd be perfectly happy with a PDU-like card for -48. Most
definitely a standard/negative return PDU card too.

I'm sure you have lots and lots of ideas and plans for the RackInjector.
I know I've mentioned this and I'm sure you heard me, but a telemetry
card would be nice. 3 switch inputs makes it really easy to monitor the
Traco BMCs. And a shunt input. Plus a voltage input for utility
monitoring. Another thing I like to do is wire up my MikroTik power
through a relay. Basically that just saves a POE port which I tend to
run out of quickly, but using the relay still lets me have remote
power-cycle. Maybe this telemetry card could have a SiteMonitor
expansion bus port? Maybe that could serve as a RackInjector slave shelf
x-connect too? Perhaps a slave RackInjector model without a full
controller in it? I'm sure you've thought of most of this already, just
wanted to throw it out there. I think we're all excited to see what this
thing can become. I want it to be the standard item at any site that I
can fit it.

One of the things on my list is to revisit how to deal with -48VDC.
It tends to be a can of worms, basically because everthing electronic
is generally designed for positive voltages, and dealing with negative
voltages tends to put a wrench in things.

I will say that the rackinjector is designed such that we can build a
card capable of -48VDC and install it without replacing the control
board.  I have some ideas on how to do so.

Like Forrest said, it's a single-port PowerInjector w/o sync. Open
it up to change jumpers for 2-pair or 4-pair GigE injection.

Something that myself, Adam and maybe a couple others have asked
for is a -48 version of something. I'd prefer the 5ch PDU.
Trango's and a handful of other licensed radios are under 2A. Then
there's stuff like Telrad eNBs at 100+ watts. Maybe you could run
3 or 4 of those on a PDU.

Or maybe even before they were designed. And that's

That was one of the few radios at the time that
required 4 pairs because of the power consumption.

Forrest said the newer relays he's using on the GigE

older orange Omron relays not so much. I've burned up
quite a few of them over the years. Luckily they're
not too difficult to replace.

I'd just use a GigE PowerInjector+Sync these days.
You get 2A per port using 4-pair injection. Plus
solid-state over-current protection. Or the 5ch PDU
and GigE-POE-APCs. There are many good options now.
The RackInjector is gonna be awesome. And I hope to

Re: [AFMUG] RD-5G30-LW vs. RD-5G30

2017-09-12 Thread Mathew Howard
The mount is completely different... it's made of thinner steal, and it
uses smaller diameter bolts (8mm vs 10mm, I think on the old ones), but it
is a completely different design, so I don't know that there's any
realistic difference in strength, and I believe they still fit the same
size pipes. It's also a deeper dish (the edge of the dish is flush with the
end of the feedhorn), which reduces (or eliminates, in my opinion, in most
cases) the need for adding shielding. They're also a lot easier and faster
to assemble. Overall, I like the lightweight dishes much better than the
old ones... I actually didn't realize they were even still making the
standard RD-5G30.

Also, the RD-5G20-LW is exactly the same as the 2' AirFiber 5X dish, except
that the airFiber dish has a dual slant feedhorn instead of H/V.

Brett,

If you are interested in them, give us a call, there will be no more than two
kits to each customer in first batch, we need your order to get those. BTW,
they are $199 list. :) once you get your kits, you can try them out and as
long as they work and everything is good, then when they become generally
available you can order more :)

Give us a CALL on them!

Re: [AFMUG] Packetflux Airfiber POE

2017-09-12 Thread Forrest Christian (List Account)
Yeah, it seems that we didn't disable the airfiber for some reason.
Worse, it was still set to show on the front page. We've fixed that now.

One of the things on my list is to revisit how to deal with -48VDC. It
tends to be a can of worms, basically because everthing electronic is
generally designed for positive voltages, and dealing with negative
voltages tends to put a wrench in things.

I will say that the rackinjector is designed such that we can build a card
capable of -48VDC and install it without replacing the control board. I
have some ideas on how to do so.
