We just witnessed a HFT Company trying to link up an 18ghz 13 mile link through trees. Whoever ran the path for them told them it would work (which it might, if there was no foliage) Apparently they only look at ground elevation and that's it. They were using a 20' height on one end (building roof), with 70' trees in the path. But the crew was out there, trying their darnedest to link it.
