Re: [AFMUG] Mid-Span multi-voltage powerinjector withredundant power..

Do you want surge suppressors on each circuit? I personally do not require
surge suppressors, I’ve always assumed the surge suppression should be outside
the shack, not in the rack.

Do you want individually replaceable circuits or all on one board? Assuming the
board is designed not to grenade under reasonable failure scenarios it can be
all one board

How many ports? 24 ports.

Here is my ideal solution:

- Solid state fusing on each radio, so that I get cable or radio
damage it doesn’t take down my entire +24V power rail, it just shuts down that
port

- The ability to enable/disable the power rail remotely to each port
for hard resets

- A power rail that accepts two power supplies and will handle the
failure of either device without dropping the APs

- 19” rack mountable

- If device requires fans or internal power supplies, they should be
replaceable without having to take the unit out of service.

Nice to have (but not a deal killer)

- Multi-voltage capable... 48V UPOE for Siklus, 24V for UBNT and
Cambium

What I don’t want

- A built in switch, I already have fancy ass switches, why do I need
another switch in the way, probably with crappy features and poor buffers.

The power bus can be done. But price will jump quite a bit. I have worked up
a design for this but always backed off due to the cost. One of the problems
is that there is a connector I need that cannot be put on the circuit board by
machine. Lots of hand work. So if I build it will anyone come?

I like the idea, but no solid state fusing, no power buss, tons of wiring, it’s
a mess to deploy this when you have over 20 APs on a single tower..

GigE-POE- APC

You can load 24 of them in a 1U rack

I don’t really want a switch like the netonix boxes, I’d rather just have a
mid-span device.
