[cobirds] Canyon towhee information, Loveland
Hello, I continue to see reports for the canyon towhee in west Loveland, but can not tell if the bird has been relocated or where exactly it is. Any further information that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. [cobirds] White throated sparrow
Hello, Again I am looking for advice on where to find a bird. The white throated sparrow is one of my favorite birds and I have gotten to spend lots of time with them in the past couple years. I am looking for somewhere where I can find them near loveland or fort Collins, and wondering where people have had the best luck for this species? Thanks Jace Brasher Loveland Larimer county -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group. [cobirds] Townsend's warbler
Hello, the Townsend's warbler is one of my favorite birds and I have heard that it is a bumper year for them. Does anyone have any recommendations on where I should go to see them and to get decent photography opportunities with them in Larimer county? Thanks! [cobirds] Clarification on RBA
Today I noticed that there was no RBA and that there is talk of discontinuing the RBA. Why is this? Why stop now? Was it causing a problem? As someone who gets both the ebird and cobird alerts I find that the cobirds is more thorough and detailed. It would be very disappointing to see it be discontinued. [cobirds] Unknown bird!
Today while birding at gateway natural area in fort Collins me and my family observed a bird that I was unable to identify even after extensive research. The bird had a completely black body and a deep blue head. We saw this bird twice in two different locations so there may be multiple. One time it was observed by my non-birding family, and the second I saw if fly into a tree overhead. I quickly compared it to the nearby lazuli bunting and noticed it was not the same. Unlike the lazuli or black throated blue warbler it did not have a white chest. We also considered blue grosbeak but they dont have white wing bars where as this bird did. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated. Jace brasher Larimer county -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group. [cobirds] Unidentified raptor
Hello, Today while birding in west Loveland I spooked a dark brown raptor with very distinct white lines on the tips of its wings similar to the coloration of a nighthawk, although I have eliminated that option because it was similar in size as a red-tailed hawk. It was dark brown and had no other distinct or viable markings other than the lines on its wings. Any idea what it might be? [cobirds] Blue jays
Hello, this morning I experienced a male blue jay protecting a tree from other males. After he had won the battle he went to the feeder got some peanuts and went back to his tree. As he sat at the very top of the tree he started to bounce up and down and make a rattling sound. I have never seen anything like this before, even after 14 years of watching them. Does anyone know why he was doing this? Why is it not on ebird or Audubon? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
