Re: [all-audio] Converting an AVI file with GoldWave to mp3

2020-06-24 Thread Colin Howard
Greetings Stuart,

You can split any file in GW using cue markers.

1. Open the file you want to split.

2. At start of file press q, this puts in the first marker.

3. However you desire, find the next and subsequent places you want to split
into tracks and once satisfied it is the right place, press q.

4. When completely marked, go to edit menu into q points sub menu and enter
on split file.

5. You are now in a dialogue which is mostly self-explanatory. By default,
the tracks will be saved in the file's current settings. I am sure you can
now navigate round the menu no problem.

6. I suggest do not delete the master file with marks until you have checked
the tracks are the way you desire.

You do not place a q marker after the place where you want to split the last
track, nor must you in any way edit the file once the markers are placed
apart from realizing a problem after the last q has been placed, you can
edit anything after the last marker is placed in the remainder of the file
and go on to place markers as necessary.

Hi stewart.

You will get loads of suggestions from others with many Free programmes.

Personally, I purchased Goldwave about 15 years ago for about £17.00.

To my surprise, I also got a Life Licence with it and I can install it on
multiple computers and guess what else, you get absolutely free upgrades for
life.

consequently, to buy Goldwave these days, it must cost well over £30.00.

There is a great accessible manual that is in the download so you can learn
how to place markers directly on the spot you wish to chop and do this for
the whole file and of course, you can name each track and save it in about
20 different formats.

So for what's, I think that you will never regret going with Goldwave.

Very best wishes.

Andy.

You need to install a lame.dll encoder to accomplish this (steps and links
below).

GoldWave Frequently Asked Questions:
https://goldwave.com/faq.php#recsrc

How do I save files in MP3 format?
To save and create MP3 files the LAME MP3 Encoder must be installed.
Recent versions of GoldWave include the encoder. Some older versions
download it automatically
if you have an active Internet connection when you save the first MP3 file
However due to a change in the the web server, older versions of GoldWave
may not be able to download the encoder automatically.

To manually install LAME:
list of 3 items nesting level 1
1. Download the LAME_ENC.DLL encoder
list of 2 items nesting level 2

◦ 32 bit version:
https://goldwave.com/downloads/lame_enc.dll

◦ 64 bit version:
https://goldwave.com/downloads/lame_enc64.dll

list end nesting level 2

2. Copy the LAME_ENC.DLL file into your GoldWave folder. If you downloaded
the 64 bit version, rename the file from LAME_ENC64.DLL to LAME_ENC.DLL.
3. Now when you try to save a file as MP3 in GoldWave, use the Browse
button instead of the Download button on the Encoder Download window to
specify the

folder where the LAME_ENC.DLL file is located.
