[all-audio] Needing an External USB Sound Card with Stereo Line-in

2021-04-12 Thread Rich De Steno via groups.io
There are many, many external USB sound cards or devices out there that
have a stereo headphone jack and a mono microphone jack.  I am seeking a
simple external USB sound card or device for my laptop that has a stereo
line-in jack.  I cannot find any such product.  I am not looking for a
mixer or anything elaborate.  Any recommendations?

Re: [all-audio] ointers on starting with Audacity, or MP3 Direct Cut?

2018-10-27 Thread Rich De Steno
The short answer to your question is yes, Audacity can do what you ask
and much more.  I use both Audacity and MP3 Direct Cut, but it is like
comparing a fly to a gorilla.  MP3 DC is very useful for cutting MP3's
without uncoding the files, but it has very-limited extensive editing
power and certainly cannot multitrack as Audacity can.  Audacity's
multitracking capacity is virtually unlimited, and it has many built-in
effects, not to mention many additional add-ons that you can install.
It is a complex program that is somewhat difficult to master, but after
some time using it, it can produce professional, studio-quality recordings.

Sadly Goldwave is no longer an option for now for me, thus I’m wanting an
audio-editing program that would be as flexible and intuitive as Goldwave was
for me in its time. I’m between audacity and Direct MP3 Cut. yes I tried using
Audacity but I just couldn’t get the hang of it! So any tips/tricks on where I
could listen to podcasts on how both of these work, and which would be used for
mixing audio, in terms of Audio1 is 20 seconds; I want for audio2 to sound when
Audio1 is at 18 seconds; with goldWave I’d paste on the Clipboard Audio2, and
once marked the point in Audio1 where I want for Audio2 to come in, Control+m.
Does Audacity or MP3 Cut do this? thanks for info.méxico
