Re: [all-audio] A Zoom question.
Joe, I asked the original sender if the cam needs power, it seems it can be powered even from an USB hub like mine. I've sent the info via my P.A to her son who has an Amazon account, hope he is able to order it for me to be delivered at my home address, hope, then, it is a simple process of plugging in, finding the device in my Windows 7 sounds and audio devices and enabling same. However, before attempting this, hope to avail myself of a pair of eyes to peruse the documentation rather than go ploughing in feet first and possibly damaging my system! On a personla note, you did not come back to me about Paul David's online problems whereas both Terry and Kevin did. It seems he's now sorted, had an engineer out yesterday evening to replace his faulty power unit. Re: [all-audio] A Zoom question.
Joe, thanks. I'll look it up but am aware of possible delays. Meantime, I received the following email which would seem to answer most, if not all my needs. A friend has an amazon account I don't, will ask them to purchase for me. I've written back to the original sender to ask if the system needs power or can obtain enough if plugged into an USB un-powered hub. Email follows: Possible WebCam for Zoom. From: Mike Date: Mon, 18 May 2020 13:49:10 +0100 Hi Colin I recently bought this camera from Amazon for about £50 (link below). https://amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07FNB2KDQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8=1 Very easy to use, USB connection, no set up or drivers required, it just works when plugged in, on a Windows 10 machine anyway. It includes an integrated microphone and no switches required. Zoom uses Alt + A to switch mike on or off and Alt + V to switch video on or off. The camera is designed to hook over a monitor but will stand on a flat surface with tilt and also has a standard threaded hole in the base to accept a camera tripod or similar. I'm sure there are cheaper but this one is good quality and provides HD video. Hope that helps, good luck Kind Regards, Mike Chair ROCKTALK TN Stirling m...@rocktalk.org.uk On Mon, 18 May 2020 14:50:05 +0100, "Joe Paton" wrote: -Colin, -I think it was called the life-cam, from Microsoft. -You will be verry lucky to buy anything in U K outlets at present. - -A big shortage due to the accelleration of online meetings and so on. -requiring camera and mic kits. -So much so, that a company we work with, have bought there employees -laptops, and are using the in-built web cams and microphones because -they can not locate any camera's or microphones for remote working. -But when available, The Microsoft Life-cam, retailed for about 28 uk -pounds, and really easy to set up, clips to the top edge of your monitor. -Plug and play, beeing microsoft, drivers already on most windows 7, 8 -and windows 10 systems. -Good luck. - -A reasonable microphone for the job you want it to do. - - - - - - --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. [all-audio] A Zoom question.
Greetings, Please can anybody advise what kind of webcam I can purchase. Currently using Windows7 on a desktop, I want it to be purely plug-in-and-use, with no additional setup, in colour, presumably with a mike, the WebCam, capable of simply standing on a desk or table useable from a un-powered USB hub. Presently, I only have an USB mike but would like to show video of my self when attending meetings. I assume when, in the Zoom I am advised video is off, some kind of switch on the cam ought to put it on, same with mike which when I join I am advised audio is muted. This, I unmute using alt with a as instructed by the Zoom system. I have no sight and no readily accessible sighted assistance, therefore, the WebCam for which I am looking must be totally accessible for me. Where can I obtain such a basic WebCam please? Thanks. --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
