In Base I'm able to connect to the Mac Address Book.
To integrate the address book:
1) Select file->Wizards->Address Data Source...
2) You should see an option called "Mac OS X Address Book" - select it and
click "Next."
3) If you have any groups in your address book, you'll see a screen for
selecting your main table with "Address Book" followed by all of your
groups. I usually select "Address Book."
4) Rename the data source if you want to, and click "Finish."
5) View your data sources. You can do this in many ways: press F4, click on
the "Data Sources" icon in the toolbar, or select: View->Data Sources.
Now, you should see the address book as the data source you just added. (For
me, the aqua build opens it automatically, while the X11 build only shows
the data source's name ("Addresses," unless you renamed it in step 4), and
you have to expand it, and then expand "Tables" to see the available tables
in the data source, including "Address Book," and all of your groups.)

Its not possible to change anything in the Address Book using Base. Only
read-only access is supported. Items that allow you to change data in the table
are ghosted (menu items and icons in the toolbar) or do not invoke the requested
change (like delete row in the context menu when you right click on a row).
I would like to request the feature that enables me to also write in the Address
Book via Base.
I read that other address book implementations also don't support this (outlook
express and thunderbird where mentioned if I recall correctly). So this might
mean that this feature request involves more then just a 'porting' issue.

This document is a personal letter so I can't attach it unfortunately. When I break into soffice process with GDB the backtrace is the same all the time, it looks like this (see below). "dpkg -S libsfxlx.so" which returns "openoffice.org-core" however, the package "openoffice.org-core-dbgsym" is not installable (broken) in ubuntu jaunty right now even though I got the ddebs repo added in apt etc so it seems so I can't get a better stack trace. Issue 98586 deals with OO not generating logical page numbers. This issue has to do with being able to specify logical page sequences in the PDF Options dialog. 98586 needs only a checkbox in the options dialog. It doesn't require that logical page numbers be specified (when a subset of the document is exported) or that page numbers be specified at all (when the entire document is exported). The solution to this issue may require some thinking on how to specify logical page numbers, as the "logical page number" to "physical page number" mapping may be one-to-many. One possibility is to detect the one-to-many mapping and require a one-to-one mapping. Both subcases end up in the same loss of the margin in the bottom of an outlined paragraph. That's why I think this is one case. 1st subcase: changes what makes an outlined paragraph to look bad and are reversable with Ctrl-Z Do the following: 1) Open the file "border line problem what IS reversable with Ctrl-Z" 2) Go to the end of the second page. You see an outlined paragraph with green background with four lines. Look at the margin at the end of the frame. The margin keeps some distance from the last line and looks good. 3) Go to the start of the second page and place the cursor at the start of the line "PLACE THE CURSOR IN THIS LINE BEFORE THE „P“". 4) Select the complete first page and delete it so that the line "PLACE THE CURSOR IN THIS LINE BEFORE THE „P“" is the very first line of the first page. 5) Look at the margin at the end of the frame what is now on the first page. The margin doesn't keep some distance from the last line and doesn't look good anymore. By pressing Ctrl-Z you can restore the original layout including the margin. I attach three screenshots: "Screenshot with margin.png", "Screenshot without margin.png" and "combined Screenshot making the difference visible.png". If you cannot see a difference after removing the first page in the test file (you have to remove the complete page!) please open the last screenshot. This screenshot shows you the difference between the margins before and after the removal of the first page. This screenshot shows you moreover that nearly all distances between the borders have changed including the height of some borders as well. I was not aware of that until comparing these screenshots. The difference between two borders is only slight but you see that the overall difference increase the more borders you have. The main problem here is that you are normally not aware of the change. You edit something, look at the change and think that the change is good. Some pages later on a page what is not visible such a change happens. Only very later you detect that. 2nd case: changes what makes an outlined paragraph to look bad and are NOT reversable with Ctrl-Z Do the following: 1) Open the file "border line problem what is NOT reversable with Ctrl-Z" 2) Repeat steps 2-4 as above. 3) Look at the margin at the end of the frame what is now on the first page. Just to illustrate the reasoning why we currently do not switch calendars during input and a solution would be non-trivial, taken from a comment in svtools/source/numbers/zforfind method ImpSvNumberInputScan::GetDateRef() We are currently not able to fully support a switch to another calendar during input for the following reasons: 1. We do have a problem if both (locale's default and format's) calendars define the same YMD order and use the same date separator, there is no way to distinguish between them if the input results in valid calendar input for both calendars. How to solve? Would NfEvalDateFormat be sufficient? Should it always be set to NF_EVALDATEFORMAT_FORMAT_INTL and thus the format's calendar be preferred? This could be confusing if a Calc cell was formatted different to the locale's default and has no content yet, then the user has no clue about the format or calendar being set. 2. In Calc cell edit mode a date is always displayed and edited using the default edit format of the default calendar (normally being Gregorian). If input was ambiguous due to issue #1 we'd need a mechanism to tell that a date was edited and not newly entered. Not feasible. Otherwise we'd need a mechanism to use a specific edit format with a specific calendar according to the format set. 3. For some calendars like Japanese Gengou we'd need era input, which isn't implemented at all. Though this is a rare and special case, forcing a calendar dependent edit format as suggested in item #2 might require era input, if it shouldn't result in a fallback to Gregorian calendar. 4. Last and least: the GetMonth() method currently only matches month names of the default calendar. Alternating month names of the actual format's calendar would have to be implemented. For all of us who publish regularly, the references in academic documents tend to contain ever more hyperlinks. Alas, and for good reasons, no publisher wants the hyperlinks in the references in academic journals and (printed) books as hyperlinks. Because the blue and underlined nature of hyperlinks renders them very unseeingly when printed. Therefore, the 'hyperlinks' I talk about are URLs only by content, not by format. You might find that the autodetection of URLs is very often turned off by writers of printed matter. They still need to be wrapped, though, according to APA and other citation styles, as hyperlinks; *without* being blue and underlined. In order to be really usable for publication purposes, OpenOffice must contain a feature to wrap text describing hyperlinks according to the rules for wrapping hyperlinks; not according to language dictionaries. I do add a file that shows pretty ugly layouts, I also add a PDF-version, because hyphenation is language dependent.
