I have JDBC connection to a PostgreSQL database using org.postgresql.Driver.
On this database I want to left/right join 2 tables using the designer to build
the query:
I add the two tables to the work area, drag the column from the first over the
column of the other to create a join, then right click on the connecting line,
click on edit and choose instead of the default type inner join, left join.
When I try to run the query I get:
SQL Status: 42601
ERROR: syntax error at or near {
Position: 75
The query in the sql editor looks like:
SELECT table1.bla, table2.blabla FROM { OJ public.table2 AS
table2
LEFT OUTER JOIN public.table1 AS table1 ON table2.refid =
table1.refid }
Which of course is incorrect syntax. Correcting the query make is work:
SELECT table1.bla, table2.blabla FROM ( public.table2 AS table2
LEFT OUTER JOIN public.table1 AS table1 ON table2.refid =
table1.refid )

For me the problem occured when my document reached around 80 pages with about 70 embedded images, 50 of which I had added since I saved the last time. The bug vanished after I changed the memory settings in OOo under Extras - Options - Memory (freely translated from German). There I increased the image cache size from 20 to 200 MB, the number of objects from 20 to 200, the remove after time to 1 hour and possibly the memory per object to 5,2 MB. So far the error has not since appeared again. It was even possible to add more pages and images compared to when the bug first materialized. For those who were unable to reproduce the bug, have you tried decreasing the image cache size, etc? First of all the user config files are no longer located in $HOME/.openoffice.org/3 but $HOME/.config/.openoffice.org/3 Unfortunately nobody I asked can reproduce this. Another thing is the variable $SYSUSERCONFIG referenced in the bootstraprc: If you set this to an absolute path (e.g. export SYSUSERCONFIG=$HOME/test) the office fails to start with the following error message: [Java framework] Error in function createSettingsDocument (elements.cxx) javaldx failed! terminate called after throwing an instance of 'com::sun::star::uno::RuntimeException' - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
