Hi all

I recently got a doc file that I had to fill and return. The doc file contains
a lot of table / cells that needed to be filled in on a character by character
basis.

There were at least 3 table / cells that merged everytime I saved and opened the
doc file as a doc file (this problem goes away as soon as I save it as an odt).

So for eg. the cells contains the following (- as cell separator for eg.)
1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6
will become
12 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6

Another table / cells had a long text in the first cell and second empty for a
check mark
This is a Long -
Text in the Cell -
will become
T
h
i
s

i
s

a
... so on

Also in the same doc the following characters in ASCII code are not handled(?)
and show up as gray in the text
160
173
The following ASCII code as a box
32

Please do the needful with this great product

Thanks and regards
Bhavbhuti

The only download I could find was a Dev version of 3.1, is this correct? I
don't mind trying out this version provided nothing major is broken in
wordprocessing with mail merge of VFP databases and regular worksheet. I am not
a heavy user of the suite.

Thanks for responding so fast mru.

Hi mru, I have installed the Dev 3.1 and the tables problem seems to have gone
away, thanks. When is the 3.1 slated to be released? Can I make it the default
instead of 3.01?

Though I must say that the special/gray characters problem is still three
Also in the same doc the following characters in ASCII code are not handled(?)
and show up as gray in the text

The third one of box is resolved in Dev 3.1 See sample I have previously
attached.

Hi all

I have a mail merged document for ThunderBird Address Book and all is well.

What I found, a nice to have, when I clicked Print Preview, I expected the
merged data to be shown (for the current record at least) but I ended up seeing
the fieldnames instead.

Could you kind people get the multi step of F4, click the row of data, click
'Data to fields', Print Preview all in one.

Thanks and keep up the great work.

Hey people, thanks a lot for a great product. This problem is now resolved in
2.4.0. If it matter this data is coming from an .odb file which uses the .dbf
file. I don't remember why I have done it the way I have done it but being an
infrequent and only mailmerge I am using I haven't gone deep except for setting
up and getting results and left it like that for some time now. Thanks.

Hi! Thanks for your response. I have attached an empty dbf/fpt I use for the
merge as a zipped file. Please fill in the data as you wish. In the Mail Merge
Wizard, Step 3, Select Different Address List.., Add, File Type dBase (*.dbf),
select this merge.dbf I have attached, it will show a connecting message, but
then the OK button stays disabled.

Hope it helps. Please let me know if you need any more details.

Hi

This is a typical obervations I have. I will try to put it in as an eg. for
lack for prefect explanation.

Assuming you have a ss with a few columns containing values and formula, they
are just being copy pasted and the pasted line is modified with new values.

1) go to cell F55
2) press shift+right arrow to manually hightlisght cells upto M55
3) press ctrl+c
4) press down arrow and the cursor will be in cell M56

That is the problem, from M56 I would not have to left arrow upto F56 before I
can paste the copied values and formulas

It would have been more comfortable if the down-arrow in point 4 would bring me
to F56 where I could simple press ctrl+v

Hope it is a valid requirement which will be useful for others. I leave the
judgement upto you all.

Hi all

When a document or application of OOo is loading in the background it has a very
annoying habit of coming to the forefront of the current active window
application.

Supposing I load a calc worksheet by double clicking on it and in the meantime I
activate my browser and start working on it. OOo will deactivate my browser and
forcefully activate the OOo window in question.

This is very annoying.

Please rectify it in the next release.

Thanks for the effort you have put into the applications.

Hi all

I am a starter with mail merge. These files are from FoxPro 2.5b for DOS and the
connection wizard mentiones that no tables are found in the directory I had
provided.

Alternatively I used ODBC to connect to the same DBFs and I was successfully
able to use them into the mail merge document.

Please take required corrective actions.

Hi all

In my recent issue I had mentioned not being able to read FoxPro for DOS 2.5b
files, so I switched to using .CSV files in the following format
Company, Address1
Nova Bimet, The address goes here

The Text type in connection wizard mentiones that no tables are found in the
directory I had provided, so finally I switched to using FPD25b files via ODBC.
See my next issue in regards to using .DBFs this way.

Please take required corrective actions.
