I installed the German language extemsion and within my standard template I
assigned German(Austria) as the standard language, when I open a new document
everything works - the moment I start to write the standard language
automatcially switches to German(Germany)

Yes, you are right again, I am just switching from Word and there you can
integrate a drop-down menu in the status bar or any bar above, but here it is on
the bottom, but it is fine this way, this is also the solution for my issue
89850, although maybe the drop-down menu in the bar on top looks fancier - but I
think you can close both threads now - thank you

I checked and you are right, excuse me.

Writing down a paragraph in one of my installed languages - Hungarian, German
(AT and DE) and English (GB and US) (standard language: German AT), and marking
the paragraph means that the program offers me in case of a Hungarian text
German AT and DE as well as Hungarian, with an English text although only German
DE and AT and English US, but not GB. But that is OK.

I think it would be easier though to be able to assign a language with a right
click on a marked text and an extra offer in the pop-up menu for language
(instead of going to Extras, Language etc

Does language guessing also mean that in the case of a longer paragraph OOo
would automatically assign the appropriate language? Because that would be very
helpful in my case

Thank you

For me it is unclear which apporach is the stronger one - whether I install te
dictionaries the classical way, let us say in Hungarian or I install the
libraries via the extension manager - should be made clearer. All in all the
lingustics needs a kind of a re-launch, but I see this is being discussed
already

Using more languages, I installed more dictionaries: German all versions,
English US and GB and hyphenation HU by dictionary.lst, French and Thes and DIC
HU by extension manager - when I want to assign a word or paragraph to a
specific language by right-mouse click the context menu poing-up does not list
all installed dictionaries, then clicking on the provided more field, another
window pops-up offering a list of all possibles languages, which I then have to
scroll up and down to find the right one. Why are not all installed languages
poping-up in the right-click menu?

I would like to see a dropdown menu integrated in the top bar by which I can
assign certain textparts to languages installed either by the extensions or by
dictionary.lst - all in all the lingustics part is a bit complicated for me

It would be fine to integrate a right-click possibilty to open any thesaurus
like in Word, you scroll over a word make a right click and the thesaurus for
the given language pops up
