Hello!
We have two matrixes which have corresponding sizes for desired mathematical
operation. In my example (look the attachment) I used popular case: square
matrix is multiplied by a vector. In this case, 4, 5, 6 and b (middle horizontal
items) should stay on the same line. Math aligns both matrixes by their centers,
but it isn't correct.
The task is to show Math, that this two matrixes depend one from another. Then
Math should align both matrixes correctly - by their middle horizontal items.
The same situation - while using more than two matrixes and using another
mathematical operations.

One more comment to the first message. Not only middle horizontal items should
stay on the same line but the other ones too. So, 1, 2, 3 and a should stay on
the same line; 7, 8, 9 and fraction c/d - too. After that both matrixes should
have the same height. Hence, brackets (if needed) will too.

Hi all,
this issue exists more than five years, since OOo 1.0.1. It seems not very hard
to fix it.

Counting characters without spacings is useful for translators: they can count
characters and decide, how much the translation costs. It's also useful for the
students, who study foreign language(s) and/or translation subjects (e.g.
technical translation). One of the tasks is to translate articles, which total
length is e.g. 2 characters (without spacings).

We see five duplications and 10 votes, aehrlich wrote a workaround macro. Dear
developers, please consider to resolve this RFE ASAP. My opinion: in OOo 3.0
this RFE should be implemented.

My opinion.
I use text-based input method and this way is for me faster than using
keyboard-mouse-keyboard-mouse. I've spent only about two hours to learn OOo
Math basics. I make several documents with equations and I say, that
command-line method is for me better, than GUI input, for example, in MSEE. Just
two hours of learning, men, just two hours - and it will be OK.

On the other hand I understand, that the GUI input will help people, which wish
to migrate from MSO to OOo.

So I think, that command-line input must exist ever and GUI input is a useful
feature for immigrants.

Dear developers,
this issue exists for a very long time without a target. Please set target at
least! I understand that this ENHANCEMENT isn't critical. But fixing this issue
will improve usability. Moreover it seems not so hard to fix it - so the target
could be the next minor version.
I'd ask you also to change OS to All.

A special setting is needed in Tools-Options. By default OOo should store

earlier? I agree with P4-priority, but this ENHANCEMENT (closer to the DEFECT, I

There is a problem with animated text in Impress.
Add a frame to the slide. Enter some text into it (in attachment: Text, text,
text). Then make the text animated (in attachment the text blinks). After that
apply any effect to the frame and run demonstration. The text doesn't appear!

Dear developers,
regression, that was OK in 1.1.5, will be fixed in 3.x. If it wasn't a
regression, then target 3.x could be OK. But fixing this regression just in 3.x
is late enough (maybe except 3.0). Or there are some troubles with this file,
that couldn't be solved now?

Dear developers!

I've opened this file on OOo 1.1.5 and I've seen, that the notes are placed
correctly (screenshot attached). Therefore I mean, that it isn't an RFE, but a
DEFECT and regression too.

Hi all!
Please try to implement this feature in OOo 2.4 or in next to 2.4. I don't think
it's too hard.

Well, well, well... A bug, which exists such a long time (since 2003) and is one
of the nearly stoppers for Samba clients, has seven votes and still OOo
Later target. In OOo 2.3.1 the situation hasn't changed much. Maybe this issue
isn't so important (this shows the P4 priority), but very appreciable. It's a
pity...

Hi all,

this issue exists more than one year, last comment is dated the 18-th July 2007.
Target is 2.x, votes total 18 and there are a lot of duplications. It shows
the importance of fixing this issue. That's why I'd like to ask you to think
about it. Also the codefreeze is in three weeks.

It should be. But it isn't.
In Draw i can make a workaround: first draw a circle (or any other figure), then
drag into it Math object (equation). So I already have a Math object inside a
Draw object. And then I should paste this construction into a Writer document.
Math in Draw in Writer is crazy enough and can cause OLE-troubles!

if it's already installed.

User settings are overridden while upgrading without any confirmation. I think,
it would be better to backup the existing user settings and whether to ask user
of applying the backuped settings or apply the backuped settings by default.
There are override-problems with language settings (72957) and Clipart (76369)
too.

There is a PDF-export defect when the ODF-document consists of more than one
page. Make the following:
1) Download the attachment
2) Open it
3) Select Tools - Options - OOo Math - Settings - uncheck Formula text - OK
4) Export the document to PDF
5) Open the PDF
I see: only one page, which is cutted off at the top and bottom. Not all
formulas can be seen here (in PDF-file).

P.S.: The document is in Russian.

Look the attachment.
I wish the integral sign to be height-scalable by default or it should be
possible to do it like with the braces. I can make an integral sign bigger using
size but it isn't comfortable and it looks not very good too.

There is a WMF-image in the presentation. When editing it's shown OK. When
viewing (F5), part of the image is turned over. The WMF was created in Visio
2003. The overturned part was done in Photoshop and then inserted into Visio.

Hello!
Type for example:
left ( matrix{1#2##3#4} mline matrix{5 over 7##6} right )
In the first line the vertical alignment is correct. In the second line it
fails. The vertical line is used for example to write an extended matrix. So in
my example 3, 4 and 6 should be on the same height.

Hello! The situation (look the attachment).
I've made a system of three equations (using stack). I want to place lbrace
(which vertical size equals to two equations) bottom left beside the second and
the third equation. Math allows me only to place lbrace in the middle: the
vertical alignment is middle anyway.
There are some other ways to solve the problem: for example, to separate the
first equation from the rest ones. But I need all the three equations in one
stack.
I think, it should be good to make possible a vertical alignment (maybe alignu,
alignd and alignm).

Hello!
I have three columns: A, B, C. I mark B as hidden. Then I select A and C and
copy them into another workbook.
In MSO: B is also copied and remains hidden
In OOo: all columns are copied and B doesn't remain hidden. I think, it's an
incorrect behaviour.

The situation.
I have a text document with a lot of equations. I want to change left and right
spacings of Math Objects only in the selected area of the text. But in this
selected area there are not only one equation but several ones.

I've pushed F11 (Styles and Formatting) and saw there a frame style called
Formula. I've made a duplicate style Formula1 but on the tab Wrap I've set
zero left and right spacings. Then I tried to apply Formula1 to the selected
area. It didn't work. Maybe because Writer can't apply frame styles to the
paragraphs. But also I can't select equations only, even using Ctrl or/and
Shift.

So I think that it should be possible to change spacings in the way: selecting
an area with equations, then apply the desired frame style to Math Objects. This
enhancement should be very useful for large documents with a lot of equations.

The task is to make a text document in Writer using block diagrams. I want to
draw a circle or a rectangle and so on and insert an equation into it. So I type
an equation using Math object, then I select it, then I copy it into the
clipboard. I draw a regtangle/circle, double-click on it and trying to paste an
equation - no result.
This feature could be useful when drawing, for example, block diagrams of
control syslems, algorithms and so on.

The sutuation is so.
I'd like to edit fields using only keyboard, not mouse. To edit a field I must
press Ctrl+Shift+F9 to open a dialog window where I can enter required values.
In MS Word I can edit fields directly in text. It is not always good but many
users say that it isn't comfortable to press Ctrl+Shift+F9 every time they need
edit the fields and then in the dialog to search for a required field. For me it
isn't a big problem but for many other users it is. Therefore I've set P4, not
P5.

I think there should be a setting somewhere in Tools - Options -
OpenOffice.org Writer to select, either editing fields directly in text or
opening a dialog window to edit the field (like now).

So how should I understand this comment:

Closed, not a bug.

?

Well, this defect is too hard to correct - I unterstand this. But this is a real
bug. So I can't understand the WONTFIX Resolution. Maybe there should by written
something else. But what?.. There is no such Resolution value to describe the
situation. :-(

I think that You should fix it. It is a real bug! Why do you think that it's not
a bug?

Hello!

I've made a lot of works in OOo Writer using OOo Math objects. The
version I use is 1.1.3. One day I gave my friend some works. He has OOo
2.0. When he opened it he saw some incorrect equations.

Now about the problem. In OOo Math 1.1.3 I can type 20sqrt 2 and 20
sqrt 2 to see the equation 20 multiply by square root of 2. But when
I type 20 sqrt 2 instead 20sqrt 2 these is a space between 20 and
square root of 2. It doesn't look good. Therefore I use 20sqrt 2.

But in OOo Math 2.0 there is another situation. 20 sqrt 2 works
correct but 20sqrt 2 works incorrect: on my display I see the text 20
sqrt 2 and no square roots!

The same situation is with using over, cdot and so on.

Why it works so? It's a problem if compatibility, isn't it? And I ask: why?

Thank you!

P.S.: Thank you for OOo Math! It's much more convenient than MSO's
embedded equation editor. I've understood it a long time ago, said about
OOo to my friends and some of they said that they will use OOo Math
instead MSO's editor to make their mathematical works.
