The status now says 'started', is this really true? After 7 years watching this
one, I hope it can be fixed soon.

@tonyaker - I'm sorry to hear of your problems with OOo. We moved to it 3 years
ago, and we get the odd moan and groan about it, but most staff are fairly happy
with it. I have encountered this particular bug a few times, but not as many as
I thought.

If you're able to interchange docs as PDF, or as ODT, or change the original
templates, OOo is much happier. If you always have to work just with MS type
files, it will be harder for you ...

Yes, your ideas may sense. Perhaps 0 to 360 could be a default, with other
values such as yours as options?
Either way, polar plots would be a very useful addition to OOo.

Certainly in MS Office 2000, ( i dont know about newer versions), there is no
capability to be able to use Polar Plots.

I think the angle axis really does have to show the angle. I've checked with my
colleagues and they dont believe that a polar plot should show anything but 360
degrees in angle. There may be occasions for other users where this is
important, but not for our usage.

I'm not totally sure what you mean about how does your data look like in this
scenario, if you could clarify i'll see if I can help.

I get this same problem using Open Office 2.2.0 on Ubuntu 6.04.

I also get exactly the same problem using Open Office 2.2.0 on Windows 2000.

Interestingly, in OOo 2.3.0 dev on Windows 2000, the legend for the graph is
shown higher up, not the same as Excel's label but much closer in appearance to
it. Unfortunately, the chart still falls off the bottom of the page. I think the
chart height is still the same as before, and oddly (in fact possibly even
worse), the chart y axis is scaled up. ie the y axis takes up more room than
before. I enclose a screenshot to illustrate this better.

I think its important to stress that many of our hundreds of similar excel files
are likewise put together with charts very close to the bottom of the page. Just
a very slight change in the way the chart is shown means the the chart does
stay on the same page, resulting in a only about 2-3 mm of the bottom part of
the chart being cutoff and shown on the next page. The biggest problem is that
this results in an almost entirely blank page on pg2 with just a few lines of
the chart, resulting in very annoying pagination issues and unwanted almost
blank pages. To users who dont understand the problem, it makes OOo look quite
poor, although the issue is quite small.

Please note, the attached polar plot is to act as an example. But because of the
new graphing system used in Gnumeric, that currently any versions newer than
1.70 will not read this file. 1.70 will read it ok.

A Polar plotting function would be a very useful extra graph to have. Excel 2000
doesn't have this, (Gnumeric does), but is very useful in some fields of Science
and Engineering. In fact we previously had to BUY a program to allow us this
extra functionality in Excel. We would much rather we may to do this natively in
OOo.

When I load a previously created in Excel file with a chart, we have a
continually occuring incident, with Chart Milestone 11, that the chart still is
taller than the original MS chart. This gives us small but very annoying
pagination issues, where the chart is forced also onto the next page, which
pushes all the other pages out of pagination a little, leading to quite a mess.

The legend used on OO2.1 and before was shown underneath the graph itself,
leading to a slightly taller graph. Now that the legend is in the same place as
Excel it places it on the right hand side, the chart should be the same size as
in Excel.

But the chart still ends up also on the next page.

Well after checking again, in Ubuntu OOo 2.0.4 and Windows 2.1, I cant see any
problems either. I dont understand this, as I'm sure I would have been using
2.0.4 and Ubuntu when I originally checked this in December, when the bug was
submitted.

All seems fine now

This document with macros loads very well, apart from the last 3 pages out of
the 9 (10), where the page content overlaps each other.

MS Word Viewer 2003, and Word 2000 actually shows this document correctly with
10 pages, so OOo 'loses' a page somewhere.

I was pleasantly surprised about the macros and forms being correct tho'. ;-)

The original file was created in Powerpoint 2000, using a nasty combination of
OLE objects and a background graphic that covers the entire page.

A PDF (included), shows what it is supposed to look like.

But when you open this in OOo (any version since late 1.1.5 series), all the
objects end up very tiny apart from the background bitmap graphic.

If you Click 'Original size' on each OLE object, they more or less come back to
the correct size.

Well I can only add to what has been said many, many times before. We are yet
another engineering form wishing desperately to move away from MS Office. But we
have hundreds of Excel Spreadsheets that won't show correctly in OO.
This is about as big a show stopper for us as there is.

I know there is a lot of work to be done, but this feature has been asked for
since April 2002 a long time ago

We wish to migrate 30 pc's with Excel to OO2. We have approx 1000 XLS files that
have the above problem. It is the one last bug that stops perfect reading of
these files in OpenOffice2.

I hope that we can resolve thsi one quickly. I apologise that I cannot actually
specify the specific cause of the error. But it is always consistant ..

In MS excel the attached spreadsheet shows the same Legend Entry on both graphs.
On OO2.0.1. back to 1.1 series, only the first chart shows the legend correctly.
The second graph just refers to Column D and Column E instead.

To maintain better compatibility the chart should also derive the legend label
for the second graph.
This has been confirmed on both Linux and Windows ports.

Can I add that I personally believe that this should be a bug report rather than
a 'enhancement'.

We have approx 100 xls files that give major errors due to this problem.
Importing MS xls files where Ms has defaulted to LOG rather than LOG10 will give
thsi error each time.

Also the error message 'Err:511' isn't particularly user friendly.

Please help !

I've been tracking thsi issue for a while. basically, the bug isnt present in
1.1.4.
Prior to build 1.9.54 equations with LOG also assumed LOG10 and didnt give an
error. But ever since, passing 'LOG' in an equation will result in an error as
mentioned above. Editing to LOG10 solves the problem but is a monumental task to
do on many files retrospectively.
I am particularly keen to get thsi fixed, as its a real showstopper for our
company to migrate fully to OO.
