Maybe this is a problem of opensource software. You can never expect anything.
On the other hand, this software is sold as StarOffice, and considering that
Excel has handled conditional formatting correctly forever, as paying customer
you would expect that such rather basic functionality will be fixed sometime in
StarOffice as well (without doing it yourself).

Reducing the priority. In most cases it is not necessary to save the current
document via macro anyway, so I guess most users may not be affected.

Forget the number of characters per macro. I was completely wrong. It was just a
coincident that the problem occurred with a huge basic module.

The problem is obviously when a document is saved by a password protected macro.

ThisComponent.DataSource.DatabaseDocument.store()

See the attached sample. If you open the database file you can unprotect the
contained macro by entering the password 'testtest'. However, as soon as you run
the main macro then you cannot unprotect the macro anymore afterwards.

I think it is not only the size of the module itself. Somehow this only happens
sometime after I have changed queries and reports and the basixc module was
password protected. I haven't found a reliable way to reproduce this with a
simple example.

Yes, I have checked that. The module has 74000 characters. The problem is that
all the sub routines in the module are strongly related to each other.
Everything is loaded and saved fine, even if the module is that big, as long as
you do not password protect it. All the sub routines work even if the module is
password protected. You just cannot unprotext it anymore, and this is something
you do not notice until it is too late.

I have checked the forums about this problem, and it obviously happens to other
users as well, but I could not find any bug report that covers the problem.

I do not find any way to rework my query so that the report won't ask twice for
the parameter :FROM_DATE.

SELECT ID, ENTERDATE, LEAVEDATE FROM MYTABLE WHERE ( LEAVEDATE IS NULL
OR LEAVEDATE = :FROM_DATE ) AND ( ENTERDATE IS NULL OR ( ENTERDATE =
:FROM_DATE AND ENTERDATE = :TO_DATE ) )

When executing the query it only asks once for :FROM_DATE, but when I use the
query in a report, it asks twice for it. This is annoying for users of the
report, besides it is error prone.

If a macro gets big enough, it cannot be unproctected anymore. All macros in the
same lirary can be executed, but when you try to enter the password, it always
says wrong password. The entered password is correct, though. I tried that with
various passwords. When the content of a module is only long enough, then OO
will not accept the password anymore.
My module has 2000 lines. If I copy the content of the module to the clipboard,
it will not copy everything. This makes me think that obviously some buffer is
too small. I have not tried to split the code into several modules.

I set the priority to P2, because if one does not have a copy of the module
outside the OO document, it will be lost forever.

BTW, the basic module is in a .odb database file.

Now I am able to reprocude it even with a normal OpenOffice 3.1.1 isntallation.

The report uses a query with input parameters, if this is relevant.

It always happens when no OpenOffice process is running, and I open the database
by double-clicking the .odb file. When I then open the report via a macro,
OpenOffice always crashes.

I am trying to open a form from a macro in the same database. The connection is
not registered, because it should work just by opening the database file from
any location.

When I do the following I get a Basic runtime error of type SQLException. The
message says [OOoBase] No connection to the database exists.

  oDBSource = ThisComponent.DataSource
  oConn = oDBSource.getConnection(  ,  )
  form = ThisComponent.getFormDocuments().getByName(MyForm).open()
  oConn.close()

It happens when the form view is active after opening the database file. It does
not happen when the tables view is active, or when I manually open any form or
table first. After that I can open any form via macro.

It also does not work when doing this:

  Dim aProp(1) As New com.sun.star.beans.PropertyValue
  aProp(0).Name = ActiveConnection
  aProp(0).Value = ThisComponent.CurrentController.ActiveConnection
  aProp(1).Name = OpenMode
  aProp(1).Value = open
  OpenForm = ThisComponent.getFormDocuments().loadComponentFromURL(MyForm, ,
0, aProp())

In this case the report opens without any error, but it has not connection to
the database. So the form is empty.

Any workaround for this?

Thanks.

It happens less frequently with the installed version. It rather hangs, but most
of the time it is stable. I am closing this for now until I know exactly how to
reproduce it.

Whenever I execute a report a second time, the whole application crashes. This
only happens with Sun Report Builder reports, and not with old style reports in
the same database. I can execute different reports one after each other, but not
the same. The crashes happen when I directly execute the reports from the
reports view, as well as from the report editor. There is no dialog for sending
a crash report.

After application restart the report works again.

I am using SRB 1.1, and the built-in database.

The same problem here. A query with the same parameter used twice (e.g.
:to_date) asks exactly once for the parameter. As soon as this query is used in
a report or database form it asks twice. Any chance to get this fixed or is
there any workaround?

When creating a CSV file as text table, and inserting and updating rows, then a
lot of empty lines are generated in the CSV file. The blank lines are spreaded
over the whole file. The number of blank lines grows with each row update, and
you end up with a file that has so many blank lines that you hardly find the non
empty lines when opening the file in an editor.

I searched for this one in the bug database, but could not find any related bug.

I have a table with large (multi-line) rows in a Writer file. The vertical
alignment in a cell at page breaks changes after reopening the file. In the
given example, the second column has only one line, the third has multiple
lines. If I allow page breaks in the table, then the text of the second column
is aligned at the middle of the column of the first page, and does not show up
in the rest of the same cell on the second page. This is what one would expect.
But after reopening the document, the text in column 2 is suddenly aligned at
the top of the cell--only after changing the alignment to top and then back to
middle, the alignment is correct again.

When a cell in a table contains rotated text, the text is sometimes scrambled.
Sometimes, it it is split, or the characters are in a the wrong order (in the
sample Any becomes nA and y), and sometimes the text is aligned at the top of
the cell, although the align middle option is selected. Moving the left or right
cell border a little in either direction helps, but after reopening the file,
you get the same result.

This is really annoying, since in big document you cannot fix all tables
everytime when you need to make changes and print/export the document.

Note that splitting a table is not the only problem. Under certain circumstances
(undo, redo?) it is possible to paste text in the same cell and then after
recovering the document from the crash, the file gets corrupted (at least for OO
2.3). I just was not able to reproduce this. However, I was able to open the
corrupted file with OO 2.2.

I cannot send the corrupted original file. It holds sensitive information.
However, I was able to reproduce the problem almost completely.

Open the attached document
Click into cell named Move caret here and split table (copy header)
Split the table (copy headers)

The application crashes instantly. However, when recovering the file it does not
corrupt the file, but only remove the table break. Maybe it has something to do
with what I did in the original file differently. I think I split the table, did
an undo, and finally pasted some text into the same cell, but this is not
possible now.

In a StarOffice 8 PP8 Writer (.odt) document, I selected text in a table cell,
copied the text (Ctrl+C) and pasted it below (Ctrl+V). After a few seconds it
crashed the whole application. Document recovery caused in a cycle of crashes.
When I try to open the file, I get the recovery dialog. If I accept the
recovery, then it reports successful recovery and crashes again when I click
Next. When I cancel the recovery, it crashes anyway. So there is no chance to
open the file with StarOffice 8 PP8 anymore. I tried everything.

However, when I open the same file in OpenOffice 2.0, it works fine.

I attached the crash files here, since I cannot use the built-in crash report in
StarOffice, because it crashes even before I have the chance to send the report.
I assume this is a general problem in OpenOffice, and not only of StarOffice.

Hi!

When splitting a table across a page break, and copying the table header is
switched off, then the upper border of the first row on the second page is never
drawn. Only when allowing table headers to be copied, then all borders are
drawn.

You need to set the border explicitly for that row where the problem occurs as
workaround. However, everytime you insert a text line or a row above that row,
then you must again set the border explicitely for that new row that is then at
the beginning of the second page.

This behaviour affects also PDF export.

Executing a recorded macro causes Calc to lose its extended Find and Replace
options such as search in Formula, search in rows or columns, etc.

1. Restart OpenOffice
2. Open an empty spreadsheet
3. Open the FindReplace dialog
4. Click the advanced options button
5. The Calc related options are there
6. Execute the macro below
7. Repeat steps 3. and 4.
8. The advanced options of Writer are shown instead of those of Calc

This is pretty annying, since it does not even require to reopen the document,
it needs a complete restart of the OpenOffice/StarOffice process, to get rid of
this behaviour--and this everytime after you executed such a macro. BTW, the
macro has been recorded with the macro recorder.

Hi!

Please do anything about this issue. This is really annoying, and in my opinion
a bug, and not an enhancement. Moving cells is handled correctly for normal
formulas, and conditional formatting should behave exactly the same. There is
obviously no way around this issue except manually fixing every single
conditional formatting formula--and not even find and replace is possible.

Best regards

Is there any workaround meanwhile? It is very annoying if one has a lot of

option in my case.

Could you please integrate the patch into the product? You can make improvements
at any time, but meanwhile it would be great to have the functionality in the
product, even if it is only available in the Writer module.

Sorry, but I am not sure we mean the same. I DID NOT make the column relative. I
just mentioned that the sheet reference is relative, since I omitted this. I
have created a sample doc and attached it. It is exactly my previous example.

And it is a defect.

Just open the document, select the header of column B, and then insert a column
(between A and C). You will see, that A has still the value aa1 as before,
although it is a formula (previously pointing to C1, and now pointing to D1),
but the format changed from Heading to Normal, since the conditional formating
still points to C1. This is not consistent and it is annoying to adapt
conditional formatting formulas everytime you insert a column between the
referring and the referenced column.

If you insert a new colum before A or after C, there is no problem.

Best regards

[sc-issues] [Issue 71104] Conditional formatting los t if reference used in condition is not absolu te

I can confirm the issue, and this also happens with absolute references (at
least with OO 2.1):

- Open a new spreadsheet
- Enter the following formula to cell A1:
=$C$1
and the following value to cell C1:
aa1
- Add a single condition for conditional formatting to cell A1 and A2:
Cell value is equal to $C$1; Cell style Heading

A1, respectively the string aa1, is formatted with the Heading style.

- Right-click the header of column B
- Select Insert Column

A1, respectively the string aa1, has lost its Heading format!!!

The condition is still
Cell value is equal to $C$1; Cell style Heading
which is obviously not correct.

This is also not consistent with cell editing. aa1 moves from C1 to D1, and A1
is adapted correctly to =$D$1. So, for formulas it works, but for conditional
formating, it does not.

When using text completion to fill a cell then Ctrl-X does not work for text
selection in this cell.

Create a new spreadsheet
Type sampletext in the first cell in the first column
Press Enter
Type sample
Press Enter
Double-click the second cell
Select the last characters of the text, for instance pletext
Press Ctrl-X

The selection is not cut in this case.

The problem does not occur when using the Cut command via menu, or when the last
character of the corresponding cell is not selected.

I just installed 2.0.4RC2. With this version the issue hardly appears anymore.
Instead there is an issue with Ctrl-X in the first column. Double-click in one
cell, select a substring, press Ctrl-X, double-click another cell, select a
substring, press Ctrl-X. Now the substring of the 2nd cell is removed correctly,
but the cut content of the first cell is pasted into the 2nd cell. I seems that
this only happens in the first column.

Nevertheless I set the bug to resolved, since the original bug seems to be fixed
in 2.0.4RC2.

Simple copy or paste operation within cells take very long.

- open a blank spreadsheet
- type abcdefg into the first cell
- type Enter
- double-click the cell containing abcdefg in order to enter editing mode
- double-click the cell again in order to select the whole string
- press Ctrl-C or Ctrl-X

It takes seconds until OpenOffice gets responsive again. CPU time for the
soffice.exe and soffice.bin process is 0%. This happens always, thus it is quite
annoying.

I have Windows XP Home Edition SP2, P4 CPU (hyperthreading enabled), ATI Radeon
9800 XT, 1.5GB RAM, many GBs of free disk space, DSL internet connection.

Please make the export make work as one would expect intuitively. Just setting
DPI without scaling the image is not enough. Anti-aliasing would also be great,
although this could be simulated by exporting a drawing with a high DPI setting
and bicubic downscaling with another software.

Yes, please provide at least one of the three proposed solutions. The current
behaviour can be annoying. If you do not want to lose the style of a cell
(including conditional formatting), you currently need to copy the cell, delete
it, and then paste it somewhere else. You cannot use the cut command at all in
this case.

Best regards,

Gerhard

Open the attached document. In SO 5.2 it has the following headings including
numbering:

1 Code
2 Acknowledgement
2.1 Motivation and Goals

The numbering of level 2.1 is gone when loading with OO 680m79 (and several
previous versions). The TOC even has still the correct numbering.
If you turn on the numbering for that level, it gets number 3 isntead of 2.1
Except if you select consecutive numbering--in this case you get even number
1. what is also strange.

Please do not set this issue to closed again without fixing that. Thanks. I
haven't seen a case where the numbering of a SO 5.x document works when loading
it with OO 680m79.

Update index is fixed in 680m79 as in issue 41972, but not the problem loading a
SO 5.x document (see first description of this issue).
Although there are different heading levels and OO shows the correct style name
for each, the numbering of style Heading 1 seems to be applied to all heading
levels. All get a continuous numbering instead of per heading level.
The only workaround is to set each heading to another heading style and then
back to the original one. After that procedure, the numbering is correct for a
heading. Again, you need to do that for each heading separately.

When loading a SO 5.x document with 680m77, or with several previous versions,
the numbering per outline level gets lost. OO is continuously numbering
outlines, not distinguishing between different outline levels.

Example:

1. A
1.1. AA
2. B
2.1. BA
2.2. BB

becomes

1 A
2 AA
3 B
4 BA
5 BB
