I could probably build a dedicated version of our ODBC bridge which does some very rudimentary logging itself, to at least observe the statements we send (to falsify or verify whether it's indeed OOo which sends this flawed statement). But this might take a while 'til I find the time for this. You do not, by chance, have a developer at hand which can spend a little time debugging this with our help? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Unfortunately, I'm it (one man shop, IT admin, and other duties) I'd love to help get this figured out / solved... please let me know how I might help. We use an ODBC API call (SQLTables) to retrieve the tables list (this is what the statement tries to do). So this sounds as if the ODBC driver is flawed, which might be triggered by some parameter we pass to it (which would explain why it doesn't happen with other applications). Could you switch on logging in the ODBC driver (in the Control Panel), and attach the log (zipped) to this issue? This would perhaps allow to determine in which context the call is made, which would allow us an educated guess where the problem lies. Side Note: More information about the database you use (something from Quantel, I assume) could be helpful, too. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I do get a log when using Excel... FYI - by manually creating a query formatted as QANTEL suggested (copy paste their SQL statement) and it did succeed in retrieving data... but, again, no trace log was created... ??? Would you like to Crossloop into my machine to have a try yourself? Doug - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Tracing works fine for me here, there's not much you can do wrong with this (the more since access via Excel creates the trace file). How might we go about trying to confirm the driver is the issue? How was QANTEL able to observe the SQL query from OOo they posted in their email? Would appear to be a simple fix (I am not a coder...;) Details below --Initial email-- To: Qantel - Technical Support Department Subject: Qantel ODBC connection works with Excel but having issues with Open Office I'm writing to inquire about utilization of the ODBC driver. It is installed and works with Excel (via the Query Wizard) but when attempting to set up through Open Office, although it allows me to set up the connection, and tests as connecting successfully, I seem to have no access to the data... Any ideas, please? --Initial email-- --Qantel Response-- The issue stems from an invalid SQL statement generated by open office. The statement: SELECT TABLE_QUALIFIER, TABLE_OWNER, TABLE_NAME, TABLE_TYPE, REMARKS FROM OA_TABLES WHERE TABLE_NAME LIKE '%' AND (TABLE_TYPE LIKE 'VIEW' OR TABLE_TYPE LIKE 'TABLE' OR TABLE_TYPE LIKE '%' ORDER BY TABLE_TYPE,TABLE_QUALIFIER,TABLE_OWNER) is used to request a table list. Note the incorrect placment of the ) character that should be framing the precedence of the AND and OR WHERE conditions. The query should be: SELECT TABLE_QUALIFIER, TABLE_OWNER, TABLE_NAME, TABLE_TYPE, REMARKS FROM OA_TABLES WHERE TABLE_NAME LIKE '%' AND (TABLE_TYPE LIKE 'VIEW' OR TABLE_TYPE LIKE 'TABLE' OR TABLE_TYPE LIKE '%') ORDER BY TABLE_TYPE,TABLE_QUALIFIER,TABLE_OWNER Qantel Support. --Qantel Response-- - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
