Please try this with a more current version. There is no need for action if this
only occurs with 3.0 and has already been fixed in the meantime. I can reproduce
the problem with the description of smucherla2009 in 3.0 final but not in
OOO320_m4 anymore.
And this has nothing to do with developer in denial...

Reopen. This is a developer in denial situation.

See http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=76037;, where at least ten
different users confirmed the problem. It's been seen in OpenOffice versions
from 2.4 to 3.0.0. Quoting from that forum:

OpenOffice 3.0, full release, WinXP

I can't save a presentation with any default Master Pages that I have applied.
All pages have a white background when the file is reopened, even if it looks OK
before I save it.

I'm seeing that too.

There's a YouTube video demonstrating this defect:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwk6VKC0rxk;. Yes, this defect is so well known
that it has its own video.

The defect seems to be associated with documents using more than one master
page.

If this happens only in m9 and not in 3.1(OOO310m11) anymore this seems to be
fixed in the meantime.

I’m able to replicate the bug consistently with open-office 3.0 (OOO300m9) in
windows operating systems like:
• Windows Xp.(HD:40GB-RAM-256-SP1).
• Windows Vista.(HD:240GB-RAM:4GB-SP1).

Steps to replicate the bug consistently using the attached file:

1. OPEN the file (.odp) with IMPRESS.
2. Go to Tasks and click on Master Page’s pane.
3. Select any slide which we want to show as master page.
4. From master pages pane select one style and click it.
5. You can see 2 option like
• Apply to all slides.
• Apply to selected slides.

6. Select any one option from the list.
7. Now we can see the master page(s) on the file.
8. Save the file and close it, then re-open the file.
9. After re-opening the file, the features that were added from master
page pane
get’sdisappeared.
10. And we can’t re-apply the same master page which was already been used.

  Tested with both files:
Teacher P-P.odp (which is from the report).
 GSoC2009-Presentation-BlueLogo_pt-br.odp(online)
Link for file:
http://google-summer-of-code.googlecode.com/files/GSoC2009-Presentation-BlueLogo_pt-br.odp

I have tested in both files and I’m able to replicate the bug consistently.

I also tested with the openoffice.org version 3.1(OOO310m11) in the above
operating systems but It is working properly without any issues.

This is still an issue. In fact it happened again at a conference where I was
presenting about deploying OOo 3. I opened my presentation and the master page I
had applied the day before was not applied when I reopened the same
presentation. I have heard reports via email from all over of this happening. I
am, however, having difficulty pinpointing the cause because it seems very
inconsistent at the moment. Could it have anything to do with how I am deploying
the extra templates via script? I am simply copying the templates to the
directory C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3\Basis\share\template\en-US\.
Although, I know it is happening in other school districts as they have reported
the behaviors to me. Like I said, I cannot get it reproduce on a consistent
basis yet, but I will keep trying.

Do you mean that not used master pages get deleted?

I am attempting to recreate the issue on a consistent basis to give you more
information. We are a school district and I have had several reports of the
issue occurring on various machines all running the same version of OOo 3.0.1
OOO300m15. I am also trying to determine which master pages it is that causes
the issue. I will post more info as I can get it. Thank you for you prompt
attention as always.

If users apply certain master pages using the Master Pages pane in the Tasks
menu they do not stay after saving, closing, and re-opening the document and
then the master page cannot be reapplied.

Can't confirm that, nether for own new presentation (with MP OOo 2 Base ...)
nor for sample document (with MP Blue with title at the bottom) teacher
P-P.odp. What certain master page did you use?
