Turns out it was 4 all along, we just got away with an incorrect number on the
older libc, so a single fix is sufficient along the lines of the MACOSX version

Rene,
thought the same the first moment, but unfortunately we would need to include
dlfcn.h than, leading to a situation where the content of dlfcn.h would
implicitly be provided by module.h, which I am sure we don't want.

IMHO, right solution would be, to not offer SAL_LOADMODULE_... at all,
especially as these are not used / supported e.g. under Windows. Problem likely
is, that C++ libraries _must_ be loaded RTLD_GLOBAL because of exception
symbols, leading to the situation that one must know if one is going to load a
C++ library, or to use RTLD_GLOBAL always.

Thoughts?

 Kay

@kr: Sure, the abstraction part of system abstraction layer is extremely
poor here (at least, SAL_LOADMODULE_... numbering could have been independent of
underlying RTLD_... numbering, with a platform-specific mapping in between).
However, compatibility nails us (as always)...

...wait, isn't that the right solution: Keep the four funny defines

#define SAL_LOADMODULE_GLOBAL 0x100
#define SAL_LOADMODULE_DEFAULT 0x0
#define SAL_LOADMODULE_LAZY 0x1
#define SAL_LOADMODULE_NOW 0x2

platform-independent (i.e., drop the #ifdefs for Mac and MIPS again) and do any
necessary mapping to actual RTLD_ values within the relevant osl functions.

This introduces some marginal runtime overhead for mapping the values, but
allows to avoid any platform copying/dependence/explanation etc. So, yes, this
is the best approach to solve this.

kr: but why are we doing this anyway? can't we just use RTLD_GLOBAL? can't we
just #define SAL_LOADMODULE_GLOBAL RTLD_GLOBAL or somesuch if we need that
define?

And we alias RTLD_GLOBAL behind SAL_LOADMODULE_GLOBAL, so we're screwed on mips
where RTLD_GLOBAL for me on etch had the same value in mips as e.g. i386
(0x100), but now in sid it has the value 0x4. The following band-aid makes it
work for both cases, but it's pukey.

Give this a try, it'll probably work for you two. But we need to identify why
this value changed from etch to sid in glibc, and if one value is wrong and
one is right, this would surely have broken binary compatibility on mipsel
between etch and sid for anything that dlopened stuff.
