So the only think i can do is to suggest you to fire up your Writer, open the testcase, make sure you can't reproduce the bug in it, leave it as-is for some hours, then try if you can reproduce it then. Even better - make a copy of the testcase, open it too and keep editing it from time to time (pasting bits of text to the end of the file should be enough, although i imagine that it is somewhat difficult to remember to do that when you have other things to do) - to make sure that both cases of active editing and passive viewing are represented. This might sound crazy, but it is my experience that OpenOffice.org does have some bugs that only show up after it is left running for some time. I'll do the same testing and will get back to you later. I've reached almost 100% reproducibility: 1) Position cursor at the beginning of the file 2) Hold shift, press pagedown. Chance is, the cursor will move down, as per pagedown, but will select nothing 3) If selection is successful, wait a second and, without releasing shift, press pagedown again. This will move the cursor again and will almost assuredly cancel the selection This does not occur in some other files i have. Hitting pagedown frequently enough (without pausing; pressing and holding pagedown doesn't cut it, since there is a delay before keystroke autorepeating kicks in) results in correct selection being made.
