The cropping problem here is specific to the particular graphic: only the second graphic in the sample document shows a problem with cropping. The two graphics are svm metafiles. If you copy/paste the second graph to OOo Draw, and break the metafile into individual elements with Modify Break, you can see the the final segment of the blue line extends into outer space: Draw shows it's height as almost 7 meters! Other problems also become apparent with this operation (text becomes invisible), so it's not clear whether the metafile itself is defective, or whether OOo has bugs in handling that format. I'm attaching the metafile, extracted from the original .odt, in case anyone wants to take a look at it.
