Can't do amlabel
Hello, i'm currently stuck. I cant do any backup, amcheck says it's not an amanda tape. I tried to label the tape but amlabel says that the label is already on the tape. So i did a amrmtape. Now i'm having trouble labelling the tape again. These tapes have been used before for amanda.. abt six mths ago, so now i'm doing a new installation, that's why the labels are still there. Force level 0 backup
Hello, I'm kind of new to the amanda system, just took it over and I've been told that a level 0 backup needs to be done due to inconsistant tape changes or neglect? How would I do this? what should I look for when doing this? Any help or direction would be appreciated. ---MikeTired of spam? Get advanced junk mail protection with MSN 8.
still having problems with name resolution backup to disk of NTservers via samba
ive been getting these errors for a couple of weeks now. last time i asked for help i was using ip's instead of host names in my disklist file. it was suggested that amanda was treating the ip's as host names and trying to resolve them, perhaps producing the errors i was getting. i have changed the ip's to full hostnames, but i am still getting the same errors? cytopia01 is a nt server, i am backing up three large shares off two separate disks on cytopia01. my amandapass file has the full host name, and the amanda username and password for connecting to the nt server. now i can resolve the host name fine. and i can smbmount each area fine and browse files? this error is just produced when running amdump ###amandapass file //cytopia01.intra.cytopia.com.au/shared amanda%password //cytopia01.intra.cytopia.com.au/users amanda%password //cytopia01.intra.cytopia.com.au/usershared amanda%password FAILED AND STRANGE DUMP DETAILS: /-- william//cytopia01.intra.cytopia.com.au/shared lev 1 STRANGE sendbackup: start [william://cytopia01.intra.cytopia.com.au/shared level 1] sendbackup: info BACKUP=/usr/bin/smbclient sendbackup: info RECOVER_CMD=/bin/gzip -dc |/usr/bin/smbclient -f... - sendbackup: info COMPRESS_SUFFIX=.gz sendbackup: info end | session request to CYTOPIA01.INTRA failed (Called name not present) ? Problems with amrecover
Hello amanda users... This problem has happened several time to me, and I have trawled through the archives here, but haven't found any solution really. I forgot to put the correct tape in last night, and unfortunately, amflush won't dump my backup to tape. Here is what i get (see below). Can anybody tell me how to get those backups onto tape and have my database be correctly updated? This suggests that during your dump, 100% (the default) of the holding disk was reserved for degraded mode dumps. Everything had to go direct to tape. As there was no tape and no holding disk, there would not have been any dumps available for amflush. If my guess is correct, rethink the setting of your reserve parameter. -- Jon H.
