Re: Can't get my HP DAT72i to work
Config error? Why does amanda think your tape drive is /dev/null? What did you tell it in amanda.conf? Hi again! How stupid can I be, yes of course I had forgot to define tapedev! My mistake - sorry /Christoffer <>
Can't get my HP DAT72i to work
Hi! My setup is like this: OS: Fedora Core 2 Kernel: 2.6.5 Amanda ver.: Amanda-2.4.4p2 Tape drive: HP DAT 72i SCSI adapter: Adaptec 29160B Ultra160 When I want to label my tapes Amanda gives me this error: bash-2.05b$ amlabel DagligRotation Band-02 rewinding amlabel: tape_rewind: rewinding tape: /dev/null: Inappropriate ioctl for device In amanda.conf I have defined a tapetype based on: bash-2.05b$ amtapetype -e 35G -f /dev/tape define tapetype unknown-tapetype { comment "just produced by tapetype prog (hardware compression on)" length 30103 mbytes filemark 0 kbytes speed 2550 kps } What is wrong? /christoffer

Hi Paul! Now I have a poster hanging above my desk saying: "Man of the day: Paul Bijnens" I tried your "workaround nr. 1", but it didnt work, but it gave me a clue, here is the workaround: setdisk /home/files cd " MAGS" So why I can't use: setdisk "/home/files/ MAGS" is strange, but most important; it works!! So thanks again!!! - Christoffer <>
Problems with amrecover and file path

Re: Amanda win32 Client
Hi Jon! Thank you for your reply! Does that mean that it isn't possible to backup Windows Client with Amanda? Ones again, thank you very much for your reply! - Christoffer tir, 2003-09-02 kl. 17:33 skrev Jon LaBadie: Not an authoritative answer by any means, so I make it off list.
Amanda win32 Client
Hi I have tried the Amanda win32 Client. My question is: can I only do a backup of an entire drive and not a specified folder? Best regards Christoffer

What cause this error?
Hi! I'm starting to get the same error more and more often, but I don't know what is causing it? When I run amcheck, I get this: Amanda Tape Server Host Check - Holding disk /var/tmp: 13484300 KB disk space available, that's plenty NOTE: skipping tape-writable test Server check took 1.396 seconds Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check Client check: 2 hosts checked in 0.756 seconds, 0 problems found (brought to you by Amanda 2.4.2p2) - But when I run the actually backup I get this back: These dumps were to tape daglig3. *** A TAPE ERROR OCCURRED: [[writing file: Input/output error]]. Some dumps may have been left in the holding disk. Run amflush to flush them to tape. The next tape Amanda expects to use is: daglig1. How do I force Amanda do the backup
Hi! My setup looks like this: I have 5 tapes, and I would like to do a backup every working day (monday to friday), therefor my amanda.conf looks like: dumpcycle 5 runspercycle 5 tapecycle 5 tapes Is that right?? Next I would like Amanda to do a full dump every day therefor I have put "dumpcycle 0" in my "define dumptype". The last thing is that I dont wont Amanda to look at the label of tape, if there is a tape in the drive it should do the backup no matter what - How do I tell Amanda that?? Please help - Christoffer
