selfcheck, sendsize and sendbackup are run on client as the amanda user.
They have the same permission.

It's only the backup program that is sometime run as root.

   What is/was the reason behind this design decision?  It seems like
the closer the behavior of amcheck is to amdump the more relevant its
output would be.
