Re: Amarok v2.8.1
I think that what's currently in git has been tested enough (with the exception of the stuff I've just dumped it--hopefully non-invasive though) that pushing a 2.8.1 to make Amarok functional everywhere, and then starting in on some of the waitlisted features for 2.9 could be good. I'm going to try and get mac stuff working in a separate branch today, and then ask for some testing/review of the cmake changes before pushing it. If it works for everyone on other platforms, we can think about pushing it for 2.8.1, otherwise I wouldn't mind holding off until 2.9... it's not like there are a lot of people waiting eagerly to use Amarok on Mac. I think there are the minor fixes we planed a while back that should go out as 2.8.1 ASAP, as we already missed the Kubuntu Trusty release due to that delay, and there are some real nasty bugs that make Amarok painful to use with 2.8.0. I'm all in, and given that I've submitted by master's thesis this Monday (yay; there's still final exams for me in ~4 weeks), I could even have some time to do the release (but I'd happily pass it on if someone *wants* to do it). I've also started poking with the my MTP collection rewrite, which would hopefully be in a releasable state in a month or two. If this goes according to the plan, we may even think of calling it just Amarok 2.9. BTW, it would be nice if Tatjana's AudioCD rewrite would be readied before 2.9 as it would allow us to remove a deprecated framework. Tatjana? Edward? Amarok v2.8.1
Hi Everyone, I was talking With Mark this morning, and I think it would be prudent to release an Amarok 2.8.1. There aren't a lot of feature changes, but there are a number of bug fixes, and just general runtime issues. I Have a hope to have amarok working better on os x before the release, but I wouldn't consider it a showstopper either way. Translators: a quick look shows not many strings have changed since v2.8, and nothing has changed that recently. Obviously the more translations we can include the better, so if you have some free time to check in on Amarok over the next week or so we would certainly appreciate it.
