Hallicrafters S-40 Receiver.$75 plus shipping
This radio plays on all bands and sounds good. I have checked all of the
tubes on one of my Hickok tube testers and they are all very good.
Switches and controls have been De-Ox’ed. The BFO works and all
functions work. It has all of the correct knobs, no extra holes and
appears to be all original. It does have the usual wear, scuffs and
scratches you might find on a 60 year old radio. The bandspread dial
cord has come off and needs to be restrung. This radio would be a good
restoration candidate. Includes a photocopy of the Sam's manual.

Hallicrafters HT-18 Project.$65 plus shipping
This unit is missing a few tubes and has the incorrect knobs.
Cosmetically the unit is not bad. The shaft on the deviation control has
been cut off. This is a single pole wafer switch so it should not be
hard to replace. I have verified that the power transformer is OK. I
don't think it would take to much to get this going. No further testing
was done do to the missing tubes.

[AMRadio] For Sale Vintage Ham

2008-01-04 Thread Don Merz
For Sale Vintage Ham Goodies

Jensen Speechmaster speakers (three). These are 1930’s-40’s vintage speakers in
bullet-shaped housings. They were used by hams instead of matching receiver
speakers. Their frequency response is perfect for CW and AM. One of these is
natural finish with a weighted teardrop base, another has the weighted base but
is a light green powdercoat. The third one is the oldest. It’s on a wooden
stand and the natural finish grille has some surface rust spots. Also, it has a
volume control which I believe is a modification. These are 4 or 8 ohm dynamic
speakers. Very cool accessories for the cintage ham shack. $65 for all 3.

Ten-Tec Corsair (the original Corsair with the dark front panel) HF Transceiver
with Ten-Tec PS and original manuals. This has one bad pull-out RF power
switch. But unles you’re planning to run low power, you would never use the
switch. Otherwise works fine. With original manuals, hand mic and paperwork.
$275

Heathkit SB-630 station console. Matches the 301/401 etc. Beautiful shape and
working well--even the clock works. $75

Homebrew 80 meter VFO. Some genius stripped a Heathkit Tener lunchbox and built
an 80M VFO on the carcass. The VFO is nicely made using 2 minitature tubes. It
works well and is stable. No cabinet. $39

National Rackmount HRO with rack, coil cabinet, power supply and speaker. This
is an early pre‑war HRO, about 1936. It has 9 Coils: 50‑100kc, 100‑200kc,
175‑400kc, .5‑1.0mc, .9‑2.0mc, 1.7‑4.0mc, 3.5‑7.3mc, 7.0‑14.4mc,14.0‑30mc, with
a wooden coil box for 3 coils. This has been repainted with Krylon satin black.
The original crackle shows through pretty well and it doesn’t look bad at all.
The receiver is untested. The speaker was re‑coned by Jackson speaker service.
The Power supply was restored and tested by me in 2001. This is currently in an
Altec PA system rack which is too small to include the power supply.
Alternatively, I can supply an open-back black wrinkle desktop rack for it--but
it is also too small to hold all the components. With
Original of newer HRO manual and Photocopy of older style.
TUBES:
4‑58 or 6D6
3‑57 OR 6C6
1‑2B7 OR 6B7
1‑2A5 OR 42
$400 complete with all coils and coil box.

Heathkit HO-10 monitor scope parts unit. Power transformer has been removed.
Otherwise complete. Scratches on cabinet. $35

Greetings and a very happy new year to all!

Being on vacation last week, I took some time to do a major overhaul

of my

web page at www.qsl.net/ne1s/

In particular, you may be interested in checking out what I've put
together for the 1926 ARRL Handbook regenerative receiver at:

http://www.qsl.net/ne1s/1926_ARRL_regen.html

and, for my "Old Buzzard Rig" at

http://www.qsl.net/ne1s/Old_Buzzard.html

The last time I did any updates was sometime around 2000 or so, so

this
was long overdue. Back then I had written all the html by hand from a

text

editor, and was afraid I'd have to do that again. However, instead I
decided to join the 21st century and I used Open Office to make my

edits

and create new pages. Many of the graphics are pretty large files at
~400Kb each. I plan on trying to shrink then to a more reasonable

size, as
long as the quality doesn't suffer too much, and as soon as I figure

out
how! (I spend a lot more time with my radios than messing with this

kind

of thing.) In the mean time, please bear with me.

I hope you find this stuff interesting and enjoyable; feedback and
suggestions for improvement are most welcome.

This is common for QSL.net. The site is extremely overloaded and the
pipeline is crowded. Sometimes I can't get any of my bookmarks that are
on that site to load even when I refresh. One just has to hope the site
doesn't forget where the data goes when it gets to you.

The tale I heard re. 800 Hz aircraft supplies is that they were an extension of
the "less iron / less weight" principle, meant for use in LTA
(Lighter than air)

stuff; i.e., the Navy's N Class maritime patrol blimps!

These critters were a LOT more weight sensitive than conventional aircraft.
