[amsat-bb] Listening to Funcube with RTL-SDR

2013-11-24 Thread Jason Charles
All,

I posted an inexpensive way to listen and decode the Funcube telemetry
with the cheap RTL-SDR dongle. This can apply to almost any satellite
too. What makes this setup unique is the ability for SDR-Radio (v2) to
listen to Wide Upper Side Band and the Funcube dongle to Autotune.
Between the two you don't need to worry about doppler correction for
telemetry decode.

I also have the I/Q file and the audio of the transponder pass from
last night on there. I hope you find it useful. It has has been great
fun for me!

[amsat-bb] ARISSat-1 Telemetry Decoding video

2011-08-15 Thread Jason Charles
I created a video demonstration of the telemetry decoding session for the 16
August 2011 0034 UTC North American pass. Two frames of both telemetry and
the Kursk experiment were decoded.

For those that are interested.

[amsat-bb] ARISSat-1 BPSK Telemetry decoded

2011-08-06 Thread Jason Charles
I finally successfully decoded the BPSK telemetry!! On a 15 degree Max El
pass at that!

I wrote up a post that will hopefully help others if they decide to try it.
The audio is also available in the post so you can hear what it sounded like
during the pass.

This is a lot of fun!

[amsat-bb] ARISSat-1 Reckless deployment

2011-08-03 Thread Jason Charles
I second and third that this was a reckless deployment. They even lost a
wing nut during the laser communication installation! The tone was oh well,
it's gone now.

Blog post with video of the final deployment and a few pictures of damage:
