connect anything to it.

[android-beginners] Re: Install Android on a Wondows Mobile device.

2009-02-18 Thread Ivan Soto
Not to sound rude but this is not an easy task. If your phone is known to be
able to run Android, just start looking maybe you will find a guide or even
the custom image for it.
If not then you should try to compile it by yourself. And this is not the
best list to ask about that. This is mostly for people building applications
with the SDK.

Good luck and share results :)

 No, except for the now infamous bug which you *will* experience after
 numerous reinstalls of your app on the phone (search for TERRIBLE
 BUG on the android-developers list) where your phone's internal
 memory will decrease until you finally have no memory and will have to
 apply the hack mentioned in the dev list post. My advice - get your
 app first running on the emulator, then on the device.

 Cheers,
 Stoyan

 P.S.
 I also wanted the white G1 but ordered mine the beginning of December
 when neither a white G1 (released at thanksgiving) nor a dev phone
 (release after 8th I think) was released :(

[android-beginners] Debug on a G1

2009-01-14 Thread Ivan Soto
Hi, quick question... Can I develop on an unlocked G1? Because I was
thinking on getting a a Dev G1 but I prefer the white one. I live in Canada.

Thanks

[android-beginners] Re: Multiple EditText's in the same view

2009-01-11 Thread Ivan Soto
Is this the main.xml?

It looks good to me... Try creating a new clean project and put that in the
main.xml
I usually screw up projects moving too much stuff when learning.

[android-beginners] Re: Understanding ListView

Wow, that exactly what I was looking.

Thanks

 If you're using SimpleCursorAdapter, just provide both column IDs and
 both TextView IDs to the adapter constructor.

 If you're using something else, you will probably need to override
 getView() in the adapter to inflate the XML yourself. See my Fancy
 ListView series on AndroidGuys for details:

 http://androidguys.com/?s=fancy+listviews

 (forgive the formatting, and forgive that these examples were mostly for
 the older M5 SDK and may need some tweaks to work on the current SDK)

[android-beginners] Imageview and ArrayAdapter

2009-01-09 Thread Ivan Soto
Hello,

I'm having the following problem.
I'm trying to populate a ListView with the following:
twText = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.list_items);
ArrayAdapterString twText_list = new
ArrayAdapterString(this, R.layout.list_item, R.id.row_text2,
tw_text);
twText.setAdapter(twText_list);

and the list_item.xml is this one:

?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8?
LinearLayout xmlns:android=http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android;
android:layout_width=fill_parent
android:layout_height=wrap_content
TextView android:id=@+id/row_text2
android:textAppearance=?android:attr/textAppearanceSmall
android:layout_width=fill_parent
android:layout_height=fill_parent
/
/LinearLayout

That works perfectly, but once I add an ImageView it crashes:

?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8?
LinearLayout xmlns:android=http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android;
android:layout_width=fill_parent
android:layout_height=wrap_content
imageView android:id=@+id/profile_image_url
android:maxWidth=50px
android:maxHeight=20px
 /
TextView android:id=@+id/row_text2
android:textAppearance=?android:attr/textAppearanceSmall
android:layout_width=fill_parent
android:layout_height=fill_parent
/
/LinearLayout

What I don't understand is that if I replace the ImageView with just another
TextView it works.

Any ideas? With an example preferably.. I'm really new on this.
Thanks in advance
