[android-beginners] is my sd card full?
hi, i am using htc g1, with openeclair 1.2.1. i am using a very old sd card, it only has 128mb space, but i do not want to buy a new one. today, i found i cannot install new applications to my phone. after the d/l, the installation process failed, and says insufficient space. i partitioned my sd into 2 partitions, 1 vfat, 1 linux swap. and i activated swap. in the setting menu, i see the following phone storage information: sd card: total 62.58mb, available 62.56mb sd card secondary: total 90mb, available 12.29mb internal phone storage: 74。18mb it looks like my sd card space is not used, and the secondary sd is almost used up. what is a secondary sd? how to fix this problem. it does not seem like i need to buy a new and larger sd card. -- Best Regards, David Shen http://twitter.com/davidshen84/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Beginners group. Apps do not install to the SD card, they're installed to the phone directly, so you need more space on your actual space. Apps require 2 or 4 times as much space as their actual size to install (can't remember which it is), so if you only have 18MB of phone space and you try to install, say, a 6MB app, it might not install as it might require 24MB of free space. Check the size of the app you're trying to install. Ultimately, you'll have to delete something else to make room. You can try deleting a smaller app to make just enough room, installing the one you want now, then re-installing the first one again since it won't require as much space to install. i am pretty sure i were able to install many apps on my g1. but i reset my phone, and re-flash my phone with openeclair 1.2.1 (it was openclair 1.2.1, i just redo it). now, i cannot install new apps. -- Best Regards, David Shen http://twitter.com/davidshen84/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Beginners group.
