[android-developers] In search of help- having trouble running an app.(automotive related)

2016-03-09 Thread Tony
Sorry if this isnt allowed or if Im even in the right place. I know nothing
about Android apps and Im just looking for someone that can tell me why
this app isnt working on my device. Or if if it is even possible for it to
work. I have one of these 7" Android 4.4 based car stereos (off ebay- look
up 7" android in dash dvd) and have tried 2 different apps (msdroid &
shadowdash) that are tuning apps for Megasquirt engine managment ecu's.

Both apps will download and I can do some basic customizing with in the
apps but they are stuck in demo mode. The shadowdash appt is missing a link
so that I can put in the registration code. The MSDroid is downloaded va
Google play but still wont do anything beyond Demo Mode. I have tried
emailing both developers of these apps and one is too busy to help right
now and I havnt got any responce from the other after a few attempts.

If anyone can point me to someone that might be able to help I would
greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your time!

[android-developers] Warning emails from Google Play

2016-03-09 Thread Jacob Weber
My company develops apps which our client publishes to the Play store.
Recently the client got an email "Google Play warning: You are using a
vulnerable version of Apache Cordova". We can address the issue, but we'd
like to receive this kind of warning ourselves, before the client does. If
we sign up for a Google Play developer account and upload a beta app, will
we get the warning emails? Or do we need to actually publish the app? Is
there some validation step where we can catch warnings like this, before
publishing the app?

Thanks,
Jacob

I downloaded your apps. They seem to be updating, albeit very slowly. The
Christmas countdown shows the time to the second, but that second value
does not tick down, so it appears frozen, until it apparently refreshes
eventually. The moon phase one updated correctly from yesterday to today.

You might want to test on emulators and with different launcher apps on
your own device.

I'm using LINE Launcher, Nexus 5 with 6.0.1.

[android-developers] Two-way data binding not working

2016-03-09 Thread Krishna Sarma

Hi,

I am trying to use two-way data binding for editing user data. I am able to
show the POJO contents in the view but the changes made by user are not
able to capture back through POJO.

public class MainActivity extends AppCompatActivity {

ActivityMainBinding binding;
@Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);

binding  = DataBindingUtil.setContentView(this, R.layout.activity_main);

User user = new User();
user.setFirstName("first a");
user.setLastName("last b");

binding.setUser(user);
}
public void Click(View v){

//ActivityMainBinding binding =
ActivityMainBinding.inflate(getLayoutInflater());
User user = binding.getUser();

Toast.makeText(this,user.getFirstName(),Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
}}

I have tried using a global variable for user, binding too. But when I
click the button, it always shows the "first a". The definition for
User.java is:

public class User extends BaseObservable{
private String firstName;
private String lastName;

@Bindable
public String getFirstName(){ return firstName;}
public void setFirstName(String first) {
firstName = first;
notifyPropertyChanged(com.example.ks.myapplication.BR.firstName);
}
@Bindable
public String getLastName(){ return lastName;}
public void setLastName(String last) {
lastName = last;
notifyPropertyChanged(com.example.ks.myapplication.BR.lastName);
}}

and the XML: Here, I am trying to display the changes immediately in text
views and on button click also.

http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android;>

Is there anything I am missing?

Thanks

Krishna Sarma

[android-developers] Re: In-app purchases made via promo codes return empty developer payload string

2016-03-09 Thread Mattia Roccaforte
Reporting the same problem.
Using Play Services 8.4.0, IAB v3.

A purchase made with promo code via the in-app purchase flow, always
returns an empty string as payload, preventing any kind of payload
verification.

I consider this a high priority issue since there is no way as of now to
know if a purchase has been made via promotion, so we are forced either not
to distribute codes or to turn down payload verification completely.

Neither.
Implement Syncing properly instead.

I just inherited code where the developer didn't know what he/she was doing
and the app is littered with async tasks doing ever calls for each activity.
Worst code I've had to deal with in a long time.

[android-developers] Calling System.LoadLibrary on a separate thread for faster boot time

2016-03-09 Thread kavita garg
Hi Folks,

I was wondering if it is possible to Call System.LoadLibrary on a separate
thread for faster boot time. I have an app which has a lot of native code
and hence takes a lot of time to boot because of System.LoadLibrary.I saw
there is synchrozied(this) inside Runtime.java so we ca not load multiple s
in parallel. but is it feasible to load so on a separate thread while ui
thread is busy creating the ui? In fact I did give it a try by putting my
so load to a separate thread. But what I observed was my ui/main thread
wasn't doing anything meanwhile, if i remove this second thread then my ui
thread is busy creating the rest of the activities and bunch of other
stuff. Total so load time is ~400ms for me and I saw no logs from ui thread
meanwhile. Is this expected? What is the way to parallelize this? I know
that scheduling in Android is an RR one. So what is the time slice? I am
sure 400ms seems to be too much for a time slice.

[android-developers] add a tolerance to the geofence events

2016-03-09 Thread BruceAndroid
add a tolerance to the geofence events
but many are false positives generated which are derived from my position near
the edge of the circle.

as my point with radius of 500 meters is at these coordinates
x 8.6404767
y 39.273838
ok. if the GPS detects the type 8.7 39.28 signals it's starting events
enter, dwell, exit because I have no tolerance I wonder is it possible?
configure
it? or I have to do in code?

[android-developers] sqlite data pass from one activity to new activity

2016-03-09 Thread Morne van Rooyen

Hi I would like to pass sqlite data from DbAdapter to MainActivity but I
can't find any helpful questions can help me. I have search for a couple of
weeks now.Below is my code:

DbAdapter.java has this code in it.

public int countTypesWithTeam(String type, String team, String match_id) {
Cursor cursor   = null;
int result  = 0;

//Get column values.
try {
cursor = db.rawQuery("SELECT COUNT(" + KEY_TYPE + ") FROM " +
DB_TABLE +
" WHERE " + KEY_TYPE + "=Try AND " + KEY_TEAM + "=? AND " +
KEY_MATCHID + "=?", new String[]{type, team, match_id});
} catch (Exception e) {
Log.e("Database error counting type of events involving a team",
e.toString());
e.printStackTrace();
}

//Query result is not empty.
if (cursor != null && cursor.moveToFirst()) {
result = cursor.getInt(0);
}

return result;
}

now in the sqlite manager this works and I get a value

now if the MainActivity.java I want to get the value from DbAdapter.java

For example if (countTypesWithTeam()<=4) {Do something} else {keep the
same}, MainActivity.java

case WIN: {// Team won the match.
int totalWins =
teamAdapter.getColumnValueForTeamInt(teamAdapter.KEY_WINS, team);
int bonusPoints =
teamAdapter.getColumnValueForTeamInt(teamAdapter.KEY_BONUSPOINTS, team);
int totalPoints =
teamAdapter.getColumnValueForTeamInt(teamAdapter.KEY_TOTALPOINTS,
team);DbAdapter.countTypesWithTeam();
if(DbAdapter.countTypesWithTeam()>=4)
{
teamAdapter.updateSingleColumn(team,
teamAdapter.KEY_WINS, totalWins + 1);
teamAdapter.updateSingleColumn(team,
teamAdapter.KEY_BONUSPOINTS, bonusPoints + 1);
teamAdapter.updateSingleColumn(team,
teamAdapter.KEY_TOTALPOINTS, totalPoints + 5);
} else {
teamAdapter.updateSingleColumn(team,
teamAdapter.KEY_WINS, totalWins + 1);
}
teamAdapter.updateSingleColumn(team,
teamAdapter.KEY_TOTALPOINTS, totalPoints + 4);
//}
break;
}

Hope someone can help me with my code! I Have ammended my question to make
it more clear. I do not get any errors as the DbAdapter.java runs in the
background

, Thanks

[android-developers] In-app purchases made via promo codes return empty developer payload string

2016-03-09 Thread Jérémy R
Hi all,

We are several developers to experience issue with in-app purchases &
promotion: if the promotion is used inside the app instead of the standard
payment method, the returned developer payload is empty.
A post has been opened on Stack Overflow:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/34979420/in-app-purchases-made-via-promo-codes-return-empty-developer-payload-string

I asked the Google Play Developer Support
(googleplay-developer-supp...@google.com) but the answer I received is
globally "there is no bug".

Moreover, as commented in a comment by user greywolf82, when you use the
promotion via the Google Play store, this purchase can't have a developer
payload so it may be a serious security flaw if we can't check the
developer payload validity.

So, does anyone have a valid developer payload after using a promotion code?

[android-developers] Periodic Sync not working.

2016-03-09 Thread 'Marc Tigges' via Android Developers
Im using SyncAdapter for some server client synchronization. In the official
developer guide

it
is mentioned that there are different methods to trigger a sync.

*1 Run the Sync Adapter When Server Data Changes*

You simply call:

ContentResolver.requestSync(ACCOUNT, AUTHORITY, null);

When server data changes (on GCM for example).

*2 Run the Sync Adapter When Content Provider Data Changes*

Simply use a ContentObserver

public class TableObserver extends ContentObserver {
@Override
public void onChange(boolean selfChange) {
onChange(selfChange, null);
}

@Override
public void onChange(boolean selfChange, Uri changeUri) {
ContentResolver.requestSync(ACCOUNT, AUTHORITY, null);
}
}

*3 Run the Sync Adapter After a Network Message*

Do the following:

ContentResolver.setSyncAutomatically(ACCOUNT, AUTHORITY, true)

Now everytime when there is an open TCP/IP connection the SyncAdapter is
triggered to perform the sync.

*4 Run the Sync Adapter Periodically*

This is for me the important and interesting part. For that you simply have
to do this (at least this is written in the developers guide):

public static final long SECONDS_PER_MINUTE = 60L;
public static final long SYNC_INTERVAL_IN_MINUTES = 60L;
public static final long SYNC_INTERVAL = SYNC_INTERVAL_IN_MINUTES *
SECONDS_PER_MINUTE;

ContentResolver.addPeriodicSync(
ACCOUNT,
AUTHORITY,
Bundle.EMPTY,
SYNC_INTERVAL);

*Now to the problem*

Solution 1, 2 and 3 are working perfectly as they should. The periodical
sync does not. If i just do what is descriped under point 4 the
synchronization is never triggered (yes i did enable the auomatic
synchronisation in the system settings of my android device).

If i do the following:

ContentResolver.setIsSyncable(account, ContentProviderMeasure.AUTHORITY, 1);
ContentResolver.setSyncAutomatically(account, ContentProviderMeasure.
AUTHORITY, true);
ContentResolver.addPeriodicSync(account, ContentProviderMeasure.AUTHORITY,
new Bundle(), 3600);

The SyncAdapter sync refresh is called every minute (it should be every
hour / 3600 seconds = 1 hour). If i do the following:

ContentResolver.setIsSyncable(account, ContentProviderMeasure.AUTHORITY, 1);
ContentResolver.addPeriodicSync(account, ContentProviderMeasure.AUTHORITY,
new Bundle(), 3600);

The sync is only triggered once at creation time and after that never
again. Yes, as i mentioned already, the automatic sync in the android
devices settings is enabled.
Triggering the sync manually for my app in the android device settings
accountmanager is working fine.

*So why does the periodic sync does not work?*

I tested on Nexus 4 with Android 6.0, On Galaxy Ace with Android 4.4 and on
Galaxy S3 Mini with Android 4.1. All devices are not syncing periodically.
I also posted my question on
Stackoverflow:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/35879056/sync-not-triggered-as-mentioned-in-developer-guide
