Hi,

Anyhelp on this? I figured that some people asked in StackOverflow to 
chnage orientation using Exif interface.My question is that in what 
function should i implement same?
What i mean here: StartActivityResult(Intent) to trigger camera & 
OnStartActivityREsult to handle image ouput, but in what function to handle 
image preview? So that, user can approve the clicked photo.
Please let me know if we can do that. IS there any callback from android to 
handle this preview from native android camera app?

[android-developers] external sd card in HTC one M9

I ran into a strange problem. My app scans through external sd card, find a 
picture it looks for, move it to a folder I created, and then rename it to 
a random name. Then when user requests, it will move the file out back to 
the original location. It works for other systems, but for HTC one M9, the 
path is /storage/6432-38301/, after it moves the file to the particular 
location, it worked. But when user requests to move it back, the app does a 
file.exists() call, it returns false. But using a file explorer to look 
through the file system, the file does exist. 

Any ideas on why? and how to fix it?

Ignore all x and z values and only use the y values?

Of course, the device can't tell the difference between "falling down" and

[android-developers] Bluetooth LE Characteristics and Services Design Question

Im building an Android app to interface Arduino with a BLE module from 
HMSoft10.

I found a tutorial online for an android app and it takes care of the 
connectivity and it uses 3 seekbars to send information from the android 
app to the BLE module.  So far because the app sends 3 values, 1 for each 
seek bar, the class has an array declared as int[]:

Because I need to increase the seek bars to a total of 6 (one for each pwm 
pin), I redeclared the array as:

But now I need to also account for 12 buttons for the 12 pins without PWM. 
 Although I could add 12 more items to that array, it might get confusing. 
 So I was thinking of a creating a second array for the buttons.  But this 
would mean I need a new BLE characteristic to be able to accomodate the 
other data array, right?

Im considering declaring a new characteristic in order to write the second 
array for the buttons, to my device.  So here is what I know, the 
SampleGattAttributes.java defines my Device, Services and Characteristics 
like so:

Im unclear as to what all the UUIDs are for.  I know I should have one for 
the BLE module, one for a Service and one for a characteristic. I see that 
the Charactersitic UUID is static coded.  But Im not sure what the other 2 
statically declared UUIDs are.  Then the code creates 2 service UUIDs and 2 
characteristic UUIDs.

Q1.  What are the CLIENT_CHARACTERISTIC_CONFIG & HM_10_CONF UUIDs?
Q2.  Are the 2 UUIDs for services completely unrelated, or are they in 
pairs for a reason?
Q3.  What would I need to do to create another characteristic to 
communicate the buttons array since the seeks bar array is moving data via 
HM_RX_TX.

You could have one Activity with the footer that hosts multiple Fragments
that get swapped out as the user clicks on the footer actions.

Just a wild guess... Starting from Lollipop you get the multiple user
accounts.
If you have several users on the device (including Guest user) and run an
app from Android Studio, it installs on every user's "sandbox".
But... if you delete the app by hand on with some user, it STILL exists on
the other users' account. That could give you a confusing error message
when installing the Release version.
Anyway, check on the logcat to see if you can get more info about your
specific error.

[android-developers] Is this a Gradle Update Requirement?

Hello guys,

What is the easiest way to read the messages completely (you can see that 
some are cut) and to track these errors in the source code?

Just to clarify, this is an app I need only change the address and 
authentication data from a web service that it consumes, and generate the 
apk again. However, when trying to compile in debug mode to test on the 
emulator, these errors prevent me to carry on.

[android-developers] How to replace telecom's native ConnectionService?

I've been googeling for two days straight now, but I can't seem to find a
way to implement my own custom ConnectionService into my app.
The documentation

states
that I have to two things for the telecom to bind itself to my
ConnectionService:

1. Register the service in my AndroidManifest.xml
2. Register a new PhoneAccount, which point toward my implementation of
the ConnectionService.

Alright, let's have a look at my AndroidManifest.xml. Here's what I've
added:

Here's my code for registering a new PhoneAccount.

TelecomManager telecomManager = (TelecomManager)
getSystemService(Context.TELECOM_SERVICE);
ComponentName componentName = new ComponentName("se.example.myapplication",
"se.example.myapplication.MyConnectionService");
PhoneAccountHandle phoneAccountHandle = new PhoneAccountHandle(componentName,

PhoneAccount phoneAccount = PhoneAccount.builder(phoneAccountHandle,

telecomManager.registerPhoneAccount(phoneAccount);

Still nothing seem to happen. My ConnectionService isn't used and there's no
where I can select the newly created PhoneAccount.

Any ideas, please?

[android-developers] Can't install my apps from Play Store (Error Code: -505)??

I have one application I duplicate with different customer's logos etc. 

I cant find any duplicate package names in any of the apps, all are unique.
I have eight of these apps and it allows me to install one only, and the 
rest I get the error.

Strange thing that it works on KitKat but not Lollipop+ when I download 
from the playstore.

I've searched for any reference to "Error Code: -505" but not getting much.

Has anyone else experienced this since Lollipop?

[android-developers] android native camera app orientation issue for launching via intent

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the android developemt and building app which takes pictures
and using Android Native Camera App but Android Camera work looks to be
complicated because of rotation issues with respect to device
manufacturers. Some devices code is working fine and some has rotation and
mirroring issues.

Followed Andorid documentation to write code for launching native camera
via intent:

*Problem: U*sing Andorid Native Camera App for taking pictures from my app
and launching via intent as mentioned in above link
(MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE) and camera is launched successfully. When
I click camera button of Native app to take pictures, *image preview is
mirrored* while taking selfie (left image appears right) which selfie user
would hate as image preview is not what he clicked.

Second - once image is clicked, it shows image preview and waits for user
input for acceptance or rejection of picture.

Once image is accepted, OnStartActivityResult (as mentioned in above link)
function receives the call and saves image to gallery. Strange thing here
is that: I*mage gets inverted by 180 degre*e and then saved which is very
weird behaviour.

Finally, two problems here:* Image Preview Mirroing issue before user
approves and while saving image invert issue (180 degree reverse).*

*Device:* Samsung A6 Edge

*Android:* 5.1

*Camera In Manifest File:* Android.hardware.camera2 as Camera is deprecated
Please advise how can i fix above two issues.

Also-* I have another doubt: *Shall i use android native camera app or
write the code using Camera Framework and launch custom camera? My
requirement just to click pictures and show preview and save it with
correct orientation. After searching a lot, I am doubtful - Can native
camera app fix these issues? but your expert advise can help on this.

Any quick support and guidance on this is highly appreciated. Thanks in
advance !

you can read the database from asset folder but Its not possible to 
write/insert database in Aset folder file

[android-developers] Android Studio SDK Manager interface issue

I am getting defective interface whenever I scroll to bottom. It get worse 
and worse when I scrolling up and down.

This issue has been around since Android Studio 1.x , and still remains in 
Android Studio 2.0.
