[android-developers] Re: New SDK Manager (14) do not recognise JDK JAVA path on windows 7
I had this problem. Try this: - In Eclipse, select the Help -> Check for Updates menu. If it updates the Android Developer Toolkit, great. That alone might do it - If that doesn't work, go to Help -> Install New Software. - Click the drop down list and look for an item for https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/. - My problem is that I had this entry with https, but it wasn't working. I added http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/ as another line (http instead of https), selected the new items to install, and everything worked fine. -Gregg On Oct 19, 1:49 pm, Alanbluefox wrote: > I have windows 7 computer and I try to upgrade to the new SDK (from 13 > to 14). [android-developers] Re: Payout much smaller than expected
Are there still problems with Google Checkout for app purchases? It seems that even now, things do not look right to me with the daily payout amounts being under reported. Here is what I'm seeing... - Go to Google Checkout and click Payouts tab - You see a daily list of purchases, with the title "Closed Orders" - Click one of the amounts in the Purchases column Here I typically see two rows for each purchase. For example, my app goes for $1.49, so I will see something like: Purchase $1.49 Fee -$0.45 However, some transactions just show one line like this: Fee $0.00 This is supposed to be a closed order, and if I drill into it I can see it looks identical in status to other closed purchases with the status showing shipped and charged. So instead of this purchase being counted in the daily total as it should, it only counts as $0. And it isn't just the most recent day's transactions. I can see these going back over a week. So are sales not being counted as they should? Sorry if I'm posting to the wrong board. [android-developers] Borders between fragments?
I'm building a honeycomb specific app and wanted to know if there is an easy way to create visible borders between fragments? I know I could just set different backgrounds for each fragment layout so they are distinct, but that's not what I'm going for. I want it to look like one background across all fragments, with thin borders between them. I'm using the Theme.Holo theme, defined in the manifest. It doesn't look like there are any attributes on the fragments themselves to do this, unless I'm missing something. Should I instead set the background image of each fragment layout? Maybe use a 9patch with a transparent background and solid edges? I'm thinking this may not be good because the borders will be twice as thick where two fragments meet. Here are my layouts. Note that only two of the three are ever visible at the same time: My main layout: http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/ android" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:id="@+id/frags"> My query fragment: http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android";> My Gallery fragment: http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/ android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> My content fragment (abreviated...) http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/ android" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:paddingLeft="20dp" android:paddingRight="20dp" android:paddingTop="20dp" android:paddingBottom="20dp" > ... -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group. [android-developers] Re: Fragment question: inter-fragment communication?
Thanks for all the help on this. I'm not the greatest Java programmer, but thought I would share my code in case it's useful to anyone else. In my case, I'm trying to replicate the functionality similar to the email client. I have 3 fragments - a list view, a gallery view, and a content view. At start up, I show only the list view and gallery view. When a user clicks on a title in the gallery view, I hide the list view, slide the gallery view over to the left, display the content view and tell the content view which title to show. The flow then is the gallery fragment tells the activity what title was selected, the activity updates the UI and calls a method in the content fragment. Here is my code. I tried to make it as generic as possible, but it probably doesn't have enough error handling. === FragmentNotification.java === import android.app.Fragment; //Allows a fragment to notify an activity of an event public interface FragmentNotification { public static final int FRAG_ACTION_TITLE_SELECTED = 1; // actionInt and actionString are optional depending on actionType void fragmentAction(Fragment fragID, int actionType, int actionInt, String actionString ); } === GalleryFragment.java === gView.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(AdapterView parent, View v, int position, long id) { rTitle = xmlparse.results.RecordList.get(position); GalleryFragment galleryFrag = (GalleryFragment) getFragmentManager() .findFragmentById(R.id.frag_gallery); ((FragmentNotification)getActivity()).fragmentAction (galleryFrag, FragmentNotification.FRAG_ACTION_TITLE_SELECTED, 0, rTitle.sTitleId); } }); === MainActivity.java === ... public class MainActivity extends Activity implements FragmentNotification, ActionBar.TabListener, SearchView.OnQueryTextListener, SearchView.OnCloseListener, Button.OnClickListener, { ... //Receive an event notification from a fragment @Override public void fragmentAction(Fragment fragID, int actionType, int actionInt, String actionString) { if (fragID == fragGallery) { if (actionType == FragmentNotification.FRAG_ACTION_TITLE_SELECTED) { //Update user interface if (detailState != DETAIL_STATE_DETAIL) setDetailState(DETAIL_STATE_DETAIL); //Tell content frag to display title fragContent.displayTitle(actionString); } } } ... } -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group. Maybe this covered earlier in this thread and I'm still not understanding it. I like the idea of a each fragment communicating back to the activity rather than to other fragments. Then the activity can decide whether it needs to send information to other fragments. So is there an existing mechanism for a fragment to send a message to the activity? [android-developers] Honeycomb SDK Refresh?
I really appreciate being able to play with the Honeycomb SDK, and have even started porting one of my apps to it. The fragments concept is great. However, the emulator sure is buggy. For example, you can't touch anything on the browser without it crashing. I made some progress getting my app working, but when I added a third fragment view I hit the same problem with any touch anywhere causing a crash. With the mminent release of the Xoom, how about a more stable release of the honeycomb SDK? If I pick up a Xoom, I'm hoping I don't hit the same crashes as the emulator. And while I'm asking for things, it would be great to get RenderScript working in the SDK - and maybe some info on how to build the samples. Plus, could we get an example of using RenderScript for a page turn? Oh, and one more thing :) Anyone have an idea how to mimic the Honeycomb contact app where the content fragment has a little triangle pointing to the list fragment so you know which item on the list was selected? [android-developers] Re: Can't see comments for Android 2.0 version of app
Ah, ok. I thought if I targeted 2.0 then 1.6 users wouldn't see it in the market. I guess that's simply controlled through minsdkversion Thanks -Gregg On Jan 20, 12:55 pm, theSmith wrote: > On Jan 20, 10:04 am, Gregg Reno wrote: > > > > > A while back, I released an app targeted for 1.6. [android-developers] Re: Can't see comments for Android 2.0 version of app
Thanks! http://www.androlib.com/ had the info I was looking for, but http://www.androidzoom.com/ looks out of date. The problem I have with using one version is that if I target the app as 1.6, I can't build the project because I need the following import to launch an activity to select a contact with 2.0: import android.provider.ContactsContract; Is there a safe way I could target 1.6 but import android.provider.ContactsContract from the 2.0 library and still be ok? I could use this code: int sdkVersion = Integer.parseInt(Build.VERSION.SDK); if (sdkVersion < 5) { intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK, People.CONTENT_URI); } else { intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK, ContactsContract.Contacts.CONTENT_URI); } -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group. [android-developers] Can't see comments for Android 2.0 version of app
A while back, I released an app targeted for 1.6. I got reports that it wouldn't run under 2.0, so I created a 2.0 specific version and released it to the market as well. This was tested using only the emulator since I don't have a 2.0 phone. The problem is, my G1 phone is running 1.6, and can't search the market for my 2.0 version of the app. That means I can't read any user comments for the 2.0 version. Very frustrating! Any suggestions? Yet another reason why Google needs a web front end to the android market. And yes, I looked into building one version of the app that targets 1.6 but supports 2.0, but it wasn't possible due to the way accessing contacts was changed in 2.0. [android-developers] Re: Invalidate and a card flip
Thanks for the reply Beth. I'll take a look at the ImageSwitcher. Since posting this, I found a workaround that seems to work. Basically I do the face up flip, and then send a message to the activity. The message handler does the face down flip like this. Here is some of the code: private OnClickListener myCardImageListener = new OnClickListener () { public void onClick(View v) { ... CardImageView iv_1 = deck[CardNum]; if (iv_1.CardState == CARD_STATE_UP) { iv_1.DoCardPress(); WaitSeconds(1); handler.sendMessage(handler.obtainMessage (MESSAGE_HIDE)); } ... } } Handler handler=new Handler() { public void handleMessage(Message msg) { ... if (msg.what == MESSAGE_HIDE) { CardImageView iv_1 = deck[CardNum]; iv_1.DoCardPress(); } ... } }; On Jan 13, 12:20 pm, Beth wrote: > Since you have exactly two images, face down and face up, you might > try out an ImageSwitcher object. [android-developers] Invalidate and a card flip
I am working on a card game, and using a custom ImageView for the cards. I have an OnClickListener that handles the presses on the cards. What I want to happen is in some cases is: - User presses a face down card - Card displays face up - Wait 1 second - Card displays face down Within the OnClickListener , I draw the face up card, call invalidate, use Thread.currentThread().sleep(1000), draw the card face down, and call invalidate again. What happens is you never see the card face up - just face down. >From what I understand from prior threads, this is expected behavior as invalidate won't re-draw immediately, so you only wind up seeing that last thing drawn. The view is probably being re-drawn after exiting the OnClickListener. So, any suggestions for accomplishing this using a different method? [android-developers] Re: Warning before exiting app?
I figured this out. I was doing this: this.mainIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, new Intent (this, MyActivity.class), 0); which created a new intent that was used to create the the notification. Instead I do this: this.mainIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, getIntent (), 0); Now when I select my notification, it activates my existing activity instead of creating a new instance. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group. [android-developers] Re: Warning before exiting app?
Sorry, one more new problem that is odd.. Using this method, my app is running in the background. If I launch the app again from the home screen using the application icon, it correctly switches to my running app. However, if the user pulls down the notification list and clicks my notification (remember I'm using the FLAG_ONGOING_EVENT flag here) it launches an ADDITIONAL instance of my Activity, instead of switching to the running instance. [android-developers] Re: Warning before exiting app?
Thanks Dianne - I appreciate the response. Instead of prompting for exit, I decided to capture the back button keypress, then send the app to the background like this: public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { if (keyCode == KeyEvent.KEYCODE_BACK) { moveTaskToBack(true); return false; } else { return super.onKeyDown(keyCode, event); } } To let the user totally shut down the app, I added a menu option that calls finish() -Gregg On Jul 29, 10:49 pm, Dianne Hackborn wrote: > You probably shouldn't count pressing the back button as closing the app as > you describe here. [android-developers] Warning before exiting app?
I have an app that receives and stores SMS messages. The main use is to run in the background, although it does have a full GUI when running in the foreground. I'm using a notification with the FLAG_ONGOING_EVENT flag so users can tell the application is running, even if it's in the background. However, the user could easily close the app by viewing the main screen and clicking the back button. The notification icon goes away, but I would like to be able to warn the user that closing the app would prevent it from capturing the SMS messages. Is there any way to prompt the user if they really want to exit the application when they hit the back button, and prevent the exit if they say no? Or should I take a different approach? And a bonus question: is there a way of receiving an SMS message, but prevent it from passing on to, say, the Messenging app? [android-developers] Re: Clickable ListView element?
Excellent! Thanks for posting this eags. From all of the postings I've seen from people looking to do something similar, this should be a big help. Just started working through this to adapt it to my project, but I'm getting a bunch of syntax errors. I should probably start a project from scratch and get this one working first. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group. [android-developers] Re: Clickable ListView element?
It would be great if you could post the code and xml! I'm using a SimpleCursorAdapter and would love to see how you are using the CursorAdaptor instead. My app is a little tricky because I extend TabActivity rather than ListActivity. If I get it working, maybe I'll put together a standalone tutorial. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group. [android-developers] Re: Clickable ListView element?
Thanks for trying Andrew, but that didn't work for me either. I notice your example HTML doesn't have a checkbox in it. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group. [android-developers] Re: Clickable ListView element?
I am having the same problem with a CheckBox in the ListView. I've spent so much time trying to find some examples of this working under 1.5, and can't find anything. The main thing I'm trying to accomplish is to detect long presses on items in a list that contains checkboxes. Even if I don't have the listener working, I don't even see the yellow flash you would get when you press a row in the list. I have one CheckBox and two TextViews. I've tried wrapping the TextViews with a LinearLayout and setting the android:clickable, android:focusable, and android:focusableInTouchMode to true, but that doesn't seem to help. Anyone have a current examaple they can share? --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
