2011-12-17 Thread pavan kumar valluru
Hi ,
 Thanks for your mail. I understand what you mean what he meant also.
I too didn't want to waste my time giving explanation for such silly
things. We are supposed to bring in professional environment here not our
arrogance or attitude. But I was annoyed by the language he used based on
his own prejudices about my post. To be honest, I was neither expecting an
answer immediately nor wanted to disturb people. Actually it didn't reach
my Inbox for the first time and I went a bit skeptical and re-posted it and
understood why I it didn't come before. Anyways we are here for
 technical discussions and should take in that way. Lets forget about it
here and move forward in that way. Wish you both a very nice time and
thanks for your valuable time. I hope the next reply to this conversation
goes technical.

[android-developers] Android videoview fullscreen problem

2011-12-15 Thread pavan valluru
Hi All,
 I am developing an Android application. My Activity contains
videoview together with MediaControler and some other GUI
elements. I am able to play the video. But, I want to make this
videoview appear fullscreen when I SingleTapDown(GestureDetector)
and go back to previous mode displaying back the GUI elements when I
SingleTapUp. I tried to do so by hiding those GUI elements layout
and changing the videoview xml attributes to fill_parent from java
file. While doing so am able to hide the other elements but my
videoview is not going fullscreen. Is there any way to make
videoview go full screen during runtime ? or do I have any
alternative to meet my requirements ?. Please tell me if my approach
is not correct. Awaiting your suggestions. Thanks alot.

Wishes,
Pavan

Re: [android-developers] purpose of R.java file

2011-08-04 Thread pavan
Hi Satya,

 A project's R.java file is an index into all the resources defined in the
file. You use this class in your source code as a sort of short-hand way to
refer to resources you've included in your project. This is particularly
powerful with the code-completion features of IDEs like Eclipse because it
lets you quickly and interactively locate the specific reference you're
looking for.

}});
}
public void LoadCoords(){
TextView latText = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.latText);
TextView lngText = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.lngText);
LocationManager myManager = (LocationManager)
getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE);
Location latt = myManager.getCurrentLocation(gps); //error is here
Double latPoint = latt.getLatitude();
Double lngPoint = latt.getLongitude();
latText.setText(latPoint.toString());
lngText.setText(lngPoint.toString());
}
}

I using the above code to find my location on mobile. But the lines

 Location latt = myManager.getCurrentLocation(gps);

throwing error in eclipse saying getCurrentLocation is not associated
with locationmanager. Can anyone help me in this regard.

Thanks
Pavan

[android-developers] Having multiple gridviews in a activity

2009-09-24 Thread pavan

hi guys,

I am tyring to get many gridview of images in an activity. The problem
is i will get scrollbar for each such gridview. So is there anyway i
can get a single scrollbar for entire activity and still smoothly
scroll from one gridview to another (with some demarcation between 2
grids ).

I tried having gridviews inside a ScrollView but there is that same
problem.
do i need to create customview or something..??

Thanks in advance

the sample app it says 'Cannot find HelloAndroid.apk' file. I have
googled this and I couldn't find any solution that fixes this. Any

[android-developers] xmlbeans support in 1.5

2009-05-29 Thread pavan

This question has been asked before. However, the slideshow at
http://www.slideshare.net/sullis/web-services-and-android-osspac-2009
says that xmlbeans is not supported in 1.0 and 1.1. Does that mean
xmlbeans is supported now?. Has anyone managed to get xmlbeans working
in android?.
Thanks.

[android-developers] Re: Early Look Android 1.5 SDK

2009-04-27 Thread Pavan

Hi..I was very excited to see that 1.5 has come and also started using
that too. I have updated my old applications of 1.1 and then when i
try to run the emulator its taking forever to bootup and start. I have
been using the new SDK since yesterday but till now not been
successful in starting the emulator as shown in the documentation,
also tried creating the new Virtual device as stated, then also not
able to.

How can i implement the new touch keyboard with apps of 1.1.

Need your advice..where i am going wrong

Thanks

  Hey, thanks Xavier!
  I've read the blog but I am not clear re: backwards compatibility:
  Will apps currently built against 1.0 or 1.1 run on handsets released
  w/ 1.5, say the new keyboard-less devices? Or do we need to account
  for the changes in 1.5 and re-release? (This would be hell)

 As long as you don't use private APIs you *should* be good (except for
 some minor permission changes.)

 That said, we fixed some bugs that may have some minor side effects.
 For instance, we changed the minimum size of some widgets in 1.5 that
 may impact on your layouts.

 This SDK contains both 1.1 and 1.5, so you should keep compiling your
 applications against Android 1.1 but test them on both 1.1 and 1.5
 emulators.

[android-developers] Re: Adding browser supported types

2008-04-10 Thread pavan

Looks like this is a bug in android. Where can I file a bug for this?

 I'm seeing this too, in exactly the same way. Select file in browser,
 browser crashes before my code even runs. (I gather that the browser is
 supposed to download the file and prompt the user to save or open it?)

 The relevant bit from my manifest.xml looks like this:

 activity android:name=FnordActivity
intent-filter
  category android:name=android.intent.category.BROWSABLE/
  data android:mimeType=application/vnd.cowlark.fnord/
  action android:name=android.intent.action.VIEW/
  category android:name=android.intent.category.DEFAULT/
/intent-filter
 /activity

 Does anyone have a resolution?

  From the exception, it looks like the browser's trying to render
 something and failing. Is my app supposed to provide additional
 information about what the mime type represents? Such as a
 human-readable name and description? Possibly a View class? If so, how?

[android-developers] Re: Adding browser supported types

2008-03-31 Thread pavan

Here are the steps to recreate the problem.
Step 1)
Create a dummy activity called Dummy.java and the code for that is
***
public class Dummy extends Activity {
protected void onCreate(Bundle icicle) {
super.onCreate(icicle);
setContentView(R.layout.dummy);

}

}
**
step 2)
create dummy.xml with this content
***
?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8?
TextView android:id=@+id/text_view
android:layout_width=fill_parent
android:layout_height=fill_parent android:padding=0px
android:text=dummy android:orientation=horizontal
android:typeface=normal android:textStyle=normal
android:textColor=#ff00  xmlns:android=http://
schemas.android.com/apk/res/android
/TextView
**
step 3)
edit AndroidManifest.xml to add
*
activity android:name=.dummy.Dummy
android:label=dummy
intent-filter
action
android:name=android.intent.action.MAIN /
/intent-filter
intent-filter
action android:name=android.intent.action.VIEW /
action android:name=android.intent.action.EDIT /
action android:name=android.intent.action.PICK /
category
android:name=android.intent.category.DEFAULT /
data android:mimeType=audio/mpeg /
/intent-filter
/activity
*

step 4)
deploy the activity, search and navigate to any mp3 file. You will see
the above list view can't have unspecified size exception. For quick
test, this link could be helpful.
http://www.archive.org/download/BenWillemsTestwavTestmp3/Test_64kb.mp3.

My activity does render itself fine ( there is nothing really there in
it). When I try to open it via an intent and by hooking up the
mimetype, i get the error mentioned in this thread.
Please help.
-Pavan.
