only concern is a bunch of DRM gunk. I'll wait a bit for the reviews.

[android-developers] Re: Google TV

2010-10-25 Thread Howard M. Harte

Still waiting for it to arrive, should be here today. I picked up the
Sony Blue-Ray unit, and think it has potential, but some issues with
my Dish Network box via the IR Blaster.

I'm not too concerned though, only software issues, and I bought these
for development not really to use them for watching TV. I have to
say that the YouTube Leanback is pretty nice, and maybe now I'll have
to get NexFlix.

Based on the teardowns, I can see pros and cons to both devices, and I
think Logitech did a nicer job putting the hardware together, but Sony
has more USB ports and gigabit ethernet. Sony also has two wifi
antennae, not sure if it is for MIMO or simply for diversity, whereas
Logitech has one.

If they take users away from us then I don't see how our company

At the time the c2dm stuff was being made available, the API had been
finalized and was on devices and they were just doing a slow roll-out to get
the server pieces in place. It is a totally different situation than a
modification of the platform with new non-standard APIs and user

There are a lot of application and device compatibility issues to work

[android-developers] Re: Google TV frame capture?

2010-05-21 Thread blindfold
I know, I seem to make a habit of nagging ahead of time, just like I
did with the JIT compiler in 2008 when it is was deemed to have a low
priority (and there was no NDK back then to ease the pain), and the
need to allow for in-memory audio synthesis and support for multiple
cameras. So I rather mention it now when Google TV APIs are hopefully
still very malleable rather than finding it tweaked in much later as
an afterthought, or not at all.

On May 21, 1:40 pm, Mark Murphy mmur...@commonsware.com wrote:
Will Google allow Android applications to grab and process individual

That will be a fine question for 6-9 months from now, when the Google TV
SDK add-on for Android (or however they package it) becomes available.

Right now, I doubt anybody knows.

[android-developers] Re: Google TV - Developer Device Seeding

2010-05-20 Thread Gabriel Simões
I wish they do a new round of the smartphone seeding for developers
from other countries before this.
We barely can find devices to buy here and when we do they cost many
many times more than in the US.
Also we can´t even mae money to buy one because we can´t make a
merchant google checkout account.

Google, ... we do exist, don´t you know?

  Hello,
