Thanks for tip on Google Static Maps - Perfect solution for this requirement! [android-developers] Re: Multiple MapViews and MapActivities
Hi, I have done what you describe previously to make an auto rotating Map view based on compass direction - using a ViewGroup and View.draw(). Yes you don't know when the map tiles have been returned but in general this does not matter if you keep rendering it in a loop - in my case when compass direction changed. You can always sample part of the bitmap image to see if it is still displaying the 'grid on white background' to know when the map tile are present or not. Regards On Jul 2, 8:30 am, jotobjects jotobje...@gmail.com wrote: Cool thanks - we will look at that. A gotcha is you don't know how long it will take for the tiles to be returned before you can get the image of the map. It was also suggested that we just use a webview with the google maps web api for the static thumbnail map. That sounds like it might be simpler? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. [android-developers] Re: Multiple MapViews and MapActivities
Too bad. Now thinking about a workaround for the specific case we have. The thumbnail map is actually static (not clickable/pannable). Is there a way to get an image of a fully inflated and drawn View? I'm thinking we could call View.draw(canvas) and get a drawable from the MapView and then just display the image. Is that possible? Does anyone have an example of the steps to do it? Hii In order to show two mapview u need to implement it in the same draw() method of the map activity.Put some condition check for two map views as suited to u for setting paramaeters for scaling up and scaling down taking the same canvas object.
